Re: Cobalt Blue
Browsing the net I found pictures of cobalt blue GT2s, 996 C4Ss and 996 TTs only. Since I couldn't find that color in the Porsche books of the first model years of GT2, 996 C4S and 996 TT I assume that it is a pretty new color.
I have seen one cobalt blue 996 C4S in real at my Porsche Center. It was a customers car. The PC doesn't dare to have such a car in the show room since the mainstream colors that sell are black, grey and silver
Since I have a zenith blue 993 and still like the color like on the first day
I have ordered my new 997S in cobalt blue. It is a little bit brighter than the zenith blue of the 993 but lacks the violet tone of it. If you want something special go for it. It will be outstanding among all these black, grey and silver cars. I never had a problem finding my car on the PC's parking area

It's not that new. I have a '99 996 in cobalt and chose it (and paid the $3K extra) to avoid the purplish hue of the Zenith and the Viola metallic that was available at the time. It's a lot brighter than I thought it was going to be but I like it because it's different and I like blue on a car. I might switch to Lapis or maybe even Gulf Blue special order next time for a bit of a change but will always go blue.

So it has always been special order then? Never a standard colour.
I have not seen it in the flesh. But the pics i have are very different. Some make it look really light (as per the pics the PSE posted here) and the other one is :

Cobalt Blue goes way back to the early '90s if I'm not mistaken.....nothing new. It has always been an extra cost option, although it's a lot more $$$ today than it was 10 years ago. It used to be a standard metallic color, but for the last few years it has been a "special" $3k color. While I do like it, its not worth anywhere near $3k IMO......but then again few colors are if any.
One of the new colors that is pretty awesome is Dark Olive Metallic.....different, but very cool. Saw a Dark Olive 997 cab at an auto show recently.....very nice.

Speaking of Blue. . .
On the subject of blue colors, I saw Excellence-Mag's review of the 997Cab, and I liked the blue color of one of the cab's. Does anyone know which blue it is (?Midnight blue metallic or Lapis blue metallic or some other-with sand beige interior). I liked the combo. Sehr schoen!
