    NAV-TV for the 997 is almost here!!!!



    I have great news! Nav-TV (turns the OEM Nav Screen into a full blown color TV tuner - I have it installed in my M5) cracked the MOST interface and soon this device will be marketed for all Porsche MOST systems - including the 997.

    I called them and they told me there are a few bugs so they need a few more weeks - not months or years - weeks!!!! They have the prototype done for the Cayenne and I asked if it will work in the 997 and they said it will once they hammer out the quirks it will work.

    How sick is that? Let me tell you - NAV-TV is by far the best non-performance mod I ever installed in a car. Just watch the game while your wife shops. And, it is completely stealth!!!!

    Only problem is, engine will have to be kept on because of the battery cut off.

    Not as good as some other sets ive seen for other cars. This one will require an additional dvd player/tv source and sound comes via a rf module (as in the crappy sound issues with an itrip). Was hoping for one that would just let you plug a dvd into the nav unit and viola!!!

    Bet hey if they can crack the MOST system, as others cant, thats huge!!!

    True but as noted above, if they wanted to sell a LOT of it, they should have cracked MOST for iPod.

    Why in the world would one want to put this in their 997?!?

    Has the 997 now become the new Escalade???

    well its a matter of personal opinion. And why not have the option for the ones who desire it?After all isnt a 911 a EVERYDAY supercar???

    I m still afraid it will void the warranty

    My local PCA chapter's monthly newsletter has a regular piece where one of the DE instructors who really seems in the know about things writes about new products and technical driving stuff. In the latest issue, he writes that the word is that PAG will ultimately design the 911 to be a GT car not unlike the Aston Martin, Jag, Mercedes SL etc. There are big bucks there that PAG hasn't seem come it's way with the 911, presumably because it has remained too focused on being a sportscar and not enough of a luxo grand tourer. He writes that the Cayman is destined to be Porsche's real sportscar.

    With the advent of a TV in a 911, surely he cannot be wrong.

    Sheesh.
