    Re: 992 GTS

No, but I’ve bought several cars from my dealer over the past ten years.  My salesman told me specifically that I was paying MSRP, according to the configurator. But in normal times, I would’ve gotten a five or 6% discount from MSRP. My dealer is a medium-size East Coast dealer, and I think the 911 models  are loosening up a bit. Probably because Taycan production has been halted. Also, I put my deposit down in October 2021.

I wonder if I'll be ordering a 911 when I become an octogenarian....good for you! (and like the non-black interior)

You have a loyal dealer. I have purchased 12 Porsche's in the past 20 years and was told to expect to pay a ADM of $150,000 to $200,000 if I wanted a 992GT3RS.Smiley

In fairness to my prior dealership, it's now under new management. Life moves on from Porsche.Smiley

Got to love a business model where as a salesperson you only have to wait for the phone to ring, and then when it does, all you have to do is pivot in your chair to the sheet with ADM's, where the challenge is you need to carefully make sure you read the right ADM for the particular model.... Love it.

By far the best part of this story!!  I plan to do the same at 80 and 90.

On top of that, you pay for the car yourself... so spec it to your taste and enjoy it! Smiley

    Re: 992 GTS

My dealer has suggested that when the car arrives, the dealership should put on a ceramic coating. It cost $1500. I’m not sure it’s worth it. Any comments? Also, there is an option for a paint protection film on the configurator. Is that worth it also?

    Thanks in advance…

    Re: 992 GTS

Find a trusted local installer and detailer to install PPF and then do a ceramic coating on your car.  It shouldn't cost that much to ceramic coat a 911.  A friend is a national Concours winning detailer and that is more than he charges to just coat a car.  Plus the paint needs to be corrected before doing any of it and dealers don't do that...or say they do but the paint will look like garbage.

    Re: 992 GTS

Different PPFs have different warranty periods. In Oz, 3M wrap has a three year warranty. XPEL has a 10 y warranty. Most XPEL places will also do ceramic coating on top of that. I got both for my Spyder and it is a really good finish.

    Re: 992 GTS

I will let the factory do the PPF, and carefully oversee the dealer application of the ceramic coating.  Thanks for the advice👍

    Re: 992 GTS

Waste of money. If you garage your car and wash it regularly it’s all that it needs. While driving I have never been able to tell if a car has received additional paint treatment. On resale, adding PPF doesn’t add to the value of the car.

    Save your money.

Not all environs are as car-friendly as San Diego.  In Denver the gravel on the roads is pretty bad and worse on the track (the average life expectancy of a windshield is measured in months). Smiley

And if you re-paint any part of a new Porsche, the prospective buyers act with absolute horror (unlike in Europe where it's not a big deal).

I am very happy with my GT3 bought at close to 50% of this Smiley

    Re: 992 GTS

Ceramic coating is perhaps a nice to have but PPF is a must have IMO, at least in the front of the car. Once I started using PPF in my cars its hard to deny the value, although a good wrap is expensive.

I have it in my RS because on the track it would get blasted by debris, resale value with chips or repainted would definetly have an impact. Yes, PPF does not protect against encounters with walls...Smiley

ON my GTS, I like it because same protection against debris plus I don't have to worry during a car wash about swirls and marks in the paint. If you have a black car even more valuable. Easier to wash and paint always looks good. Ceramic makes it even easier to wash, stays cleaner longer but again is a nice to have.

I think its hard to argue PPF will help maintain resale value. My view Smiley

Totally understand your point of view. Previously I had PPF put on three cars; two Ferrari's and Porsche Turbo. It didn't take long to recognize that the PPF can get damage by pebbles, gravel or anything else and the damage looks bad. Not easily repaired. Small surface damage on paint is easily repaired.

On resale when I mentioned PPF all I got was a big yawn.Smiley

Yes, PPF gets easily damaged, but it can be replaced.  Original paint can never be replaced (not that I care so much, but many people do).
