    My F430 -- first impressions

    hello!

i'm still breaking in the car. i've driven just 200km's over the weekend due to lack of time. but here are my first impressions.

first of all, since this is my first ferrari: all the prejudices about ferraris are BS!

    - excellent build quality. car is so stiff, NOTHING jiggles or rattles. material quality and haptics are excellent as well.

    - the F1 tranny is very easy to use, even in city traffic, parking etc. it's relaxing in auto mode, and it's fast as hell when you need it.

    - car is very handy, feels quite compact. steering is phenomenal. not nervous at all, but at the same time with excellent feedback from the road.

but all the legends are TRUE

    - car looks so gorgeous! pictures don't tell the real story. you have to see it in reality. this drama, this beauty.

    - it's not a car. it is something else from another planet. out of this world!

    - sound is awesome

the only downside is that this car (even in stealth color grigio titanio) gets so much attention that it's endangering the road traffic... other cars are trying to follow you, braking abrupt, turning, trying to get alongside in order to take a picture...

    other downsides...

    - fuel consumption

    - the car was delivered slightly stained on the inside. as if some mechanics at the factory didn't wash their hands. or remains of glue here and there.

overall this car is a masterpiece. it's perfect. best car i've ever driven.

    zz

btw, here's how i specced the F430 in case you are interested:

    - grigio titanio / leather light grey
    - bucket seats
    - rosso scuderia brake calipers
    - scuderia shields
    - nav system
    - ext. leather
    - tire pressure control
    - fire extinguisher

    side view

you have to see it in reality. feel it.

    Re: My F430 -- pictures

cabin with fire extinguisher. you never know

    Re: My F430 -- pictures

the bucket seats are great. not better than the porsche's recaros IMO, but with adjustable backrest!

    Re: My F430 -- pictures

you have to experience this: look behind you... and see... feel...

    Re: My F430 -- pictures

    the perfect place to be

    Absolutely!

Congratulations on your new 430 zz! It looks great!

    Re: My F430 -- pictures

Very nice pics Zz! Thanks a lot!!!
That color is superb, it is my favorite for Ferrari appart from classic red and Grigrio silverstone!
    Very nice!

How do you compare the F430 to the GT3RS so far?

although on-paper performance (according to road tests) is nearly identical, the cars can not be compared IMHO. and since i've not yet driven the F430 hard, it's difficult for me to compare them anyway

the GT3 RS is raw, old school, uncomfortable -- everything is more direct and nervous, especially steering. you've got the feeling that you're riding the road directly, with no car in between. you have to be highly concentrated.

the F430 is different. it's like flying a high tech UFO (but with the emotional drama of a 70's GP racer ). in SPORT/auto tranny mode it's nearly as confortable as a merc s-class, while in RACE (or more extreme in CST OFF) mode it's nearly like a GT3.

what the GT3 RS does perfect and can't be matched by the F430 IMHO are brake power/pedal feel (no ceramics on both cars btw) and steer-in.

    Re: My F430 -- pictures

You are one lucky man! Enjoy to the fullest!

I SECOND THAT, not that I care so mutch, (I do a little bit of course) but it's almost extreme to me, I even tought something wasn't right, but it seems to be 'normal' ....

Re: My F430 -- first impressions

Thank you for the report. I am counting the hours for my delivery.

Regarding fuel useage I was under the impression at least for the US cars it was rated at 11-14 miles per gallon city and 18 highway. My 360 was a little less.

I even doubt the 'rated' useage .... and indeed mine 360spider was alot less ....BUT the 430 is worth it !!

....but I would not care if it would consume a little less fuel

Re: My F430 -- first impressions

fuel consumption was approx 60l on my first 200km's (30l per 100km)
(and no revving higher than 6000 due to break in, 50% inner city, 20% B roads, 30% autobahn)

    30L/100 kmh!!!
    That is HUGE!!!
It's not even a matter of money, if you own such a car, you can afford the refills, it's a matter of stopping so often at petrol stations!
How big is the tank? 100 litres?

Re: My F430 -- first impressions

    Fantastic pictures ZZ .

    95l

but don't take the 30l for granted. it's just a guess. i have to fill the car up again in order to see how much fuel really was consumed.
