Clock is inaccurate

The digital clock on my 2004 Cayenne doesn't keep accurate time! It runs fast by 5-8 mins every week. I have told my dealer and they cannot find the way to check it without leaving the car there for a week. I have told them that in webboard, someone mention about the software update but they do not aware it. Anyone ever heard of this problem and have the TSB no. Thanks

there is indeed a software update to fix this

Yes you need to change the whole instrument cluster. They just changed it on my gf's Cayenne Turbo, together with a new Navigation system. The car is trouble free now

My 997 Coupe is consistently 2-3 minutes slow. I really can't believe it. I wish it was a software download fix; I work for Porsche; I will find out. Revvv

I'm not sure, but I think this TSB may refer to "wrong time" in the sense that instrument cluster clock and PCM time displays are not synchronised, and not to the clock timekeeping being inaccurate.

MY 2004 Cayenne does that too, for some reason they need to replace the whole instrument cluster like Deetz said, I called porsche to check and that what service told me, I just havent gotten around to repairing it. WHere can I llok up all the TSB that my car has? Just to make sure when I take it in I have all TSB open done? I have a 2004 Cayenne V6

Many of us check TSB's here: link to Renntech web page

It requires a small donation to see the TSB's. Other sources include All Data and the NHTSA website, but neither of those are as complete as Renntech.

The VW Touareg also had this problem. There are two solutions-the first that came out was to replace the entire instrument cluster, then in February VW issued a software update that does appear to make the clock accurate.
