    992 GTS

Does anyone have a 992 GTS? If so, impressions?

    Re: 992 GTS

I've had my 4 GTS for a few months now. In the last 2 years I've also had a 992S and Turbo S to compare it against.

    IMG_9884.jpg

My experience is similar to a majority of the reviews. The car feels more alive on the roads, steering is more direct and ,although its 4WD, better than the S. Its definitely louder in the cabin - due to more tyre road and far louder exhaust. The pdk seems more direct with more noticeable gear changes - the S was too smooth. The rider is stiffer than the Turbo S despite the same suspension - I heard the PDCC equipped cars have a softer set up.  Overall it hits the sweet spot for me - it may be a little tiring on the motorway but its far more engaging when pressing on. I've got a Touring coming and it'll be interesting to compare but in the meantime I prefer it to the Turbo S on the speed limited roads in the UK!

    Re: 992 GTS

Congrats ! Beautiful car ! What colour is this ?

    Re: 992 GTS

Thank you, Nick.  Lovely car—Aventurine?  Did u get GTS interior package, front lift, gloss black exterior package?  Can you notice power difference from the S?

I started a 992 GTS thread if you want to respond there…

    Re: 992 GTS

Its Agate - though looks darker in real life than the picture

I just went for the extended Race-Tex interior and carbon package. Have the GTS interior on our Boxster 4.0 and there's only minimal difference (coloured stitching I think)

Didn't go with the lift and so far fine - otherwise standard except for the sunroof and rear wheel steering - which I always spec.

To me its a vast improvement on the S (which I found slightly disappointing - I actually preferred the 991.2 GTS to it). I prefer a firm ride so it may not be to everyones taste . Porsche just seem to improve on every iteration and I can definitely feel how they've moved things on in the last 2 years

I also prefer the classic 911 shape without the wing - more understated for a daily car

    Re: 992 GTS

Thank you so much! I am now drooling.

Cars are much more difficult to get into the US these days—hope to get mine by September after almost a one year wait….

    Re: 992 GTS

Same in the UK, over 12 month wait and used non GT 911's going for over list !

    Re: 992 GTS

Congrats  @nick28 Ive got the touring and looking forward to hearing your comparison

    Re: 992 GTS

Nick, looks like you are one of the guys who are buying up all the UK production slots, you've had 3 new Porsches in 2 years, 992S, Turbo S, GTS and a Touring on the way !?

If supply was higher and Porsche cars depreciated in the UK like they used to I am guessing there is no way you would be playing this game..... Obviously I am a little bitter as people like you are effectively making it much more difficult for people like me to buy new Porsche 911s, having said that it is Porsche UK I blame, you are just enjoying virtual depreciation free Porsche motoring.

    Re: 992 GTS

TB993tt  I've been buying 911's for over 20 years from the same OPC with hard earned £. Not been near another brand. First 911 was a 996.2 GT3 in the days when you could go into a dealer and buy one .... but hey they depreciated which is probably why there wasn't a queue. I buy assuming I'm going to lose money and it wasn't until the 991 GT3 when the tide turned. That's when the wannabes joined the queue for a free car which then meant the number of GT cars I could get reduced substantially - last one I had was 5 years ago. Anyone could have bought a 992 S at the time, the Turbo S was on order before the world went into money printing mode. The Touring is a personal goal of mine since the 911R was a glint in Porsche's eye - and I'm over the moon at the thought of it  wink

    Re: 992 GTS

Apologies Nick I get so frustrated that there are so many wannabes playing this stupid game, which seems to have been engineered by the UK Porsche importer, you clearly are not one Smiley

It actually pushed me away to Mclaren for a while where I have relearned the meaning of depreciation but I'd really quite like a Manual GT3 Touring to smoke around in, with CF roof and lightweight glass, some retrofitted rear seats and I would enjoy for a good few years.....I sent a couple of configured cars to my two local dealers and fair play they did contact me but were slightly embarrassed with their situation. Your GTS is lovely BTW kiss

    Re: 992 GTS

No offence taken. I find  Rennteam has always been a more pleasant forum than some I can mention.

    Re: 992 GTS

Well it didn’t take me 20 years but it did take a very well specc’d Macan turbo, Cayenne turbo and GT4 in the space of like three years to even get on the „maybe we will consider you“ list, and then my dealer called and said „you have won the lotto, you have a build slot for a touring…“. Now everything is a bit delayed but they do prioritise GT cars, so hopeful my build slot doesn’t slip too much… good thing is apparently the ceramics got locked in before the shortages started….

now all I need to do is find someone that does the rear seat conversion…

    Re: 992 GTS

Dealer called and said he finally got an allocation for my GTS (put my deposit down last October).  Specced it out today and supposedly have a June build date.  Of course, lots can happen to screw that up, but hey it’s some kind of news in any event.

Went for classic look—GT Silver, burgundy/black, glass sunroof, gloss black exterior package, rear wheel steering, other small stuff.

Excited and wary.  Guess that’s the car world we live in nowyes

    Re: 992 GTS

Sounds like a great spec, congrats! kiss  Love the idea of the black/burgundy interior with the silver..

What really surprises me that Porsche has not come across a nice over-engineered cupholder again with the 992…strange…smiley

The passenger cupholder is an over engineered item that's hidden underneath the side air vent...........

Great spec ! Close to how I’d do it myself wink

    Re: 992 GTS

There is also a single cup holder piece that goes in the center console. Not shown on this pic

    Re: 992 GTS

Congratulations. Nice choice of color combo and rims .

    Re: 992 GTS

Fantastic look - I would probably just add the black caliber.

    Re: 992 GTS

Love it. Very nice specs, though I would reconsider the red interior, but that is just my personal preference.

    Re: 992 GTS

Thanks everyone. I have had two silver cars with black interiors and wanted to change a bit. Also, I’ll be 80 years old this August, and probably added a little too much “luxury“ to the spec. But last time I checked, no one is gonna live my life for me. Guess I just want to be fast, and comfortable.

One question, I chose the 14 way sport seats, not the 18 way. Seems like the 18 way bolsters might be a little restrictive getting in and out. Will probably do one or two track days at most per year, and  just didn’t see any reason to spend an extra $1500. Any thoughts?

    Re: 992 GTS

    18 way aren't 'restrictive'.

If you don't close up the side bolsters, they are just as 'wide' as the 14.

When you go to the track, just bring in the side bolsters to hold you tight, and when you leave, you can open them up for a more relaxing drive home.

Personally, I find the 14 too roomy, lots of empty space for me to slide around the chair even when I am driving in the city. Sort of like sitting in the first class seat on airplanes. I always needed the 18 way and bring the sides all the way in for a normal comfortable seating position even for street driving.

    Thanks, good info👍

    Re: 992 GTS

Did you pay above MSRP to get the allocation?
