Have you seen Audi's "Tactical Green"?  I looks like 2 parts FDE and one part ODG.  I like it.

That tactical green has a lot of tan or gold in it. With that color on an electric car, you could fly past the cops and it just wouldn't hardly register without sound and having a bit of the tan sedan look.

Thanks Mike, I think the design is quite attractive. I put a deposit down (in October!) for a 992 GTS. If that does not come through, I’m going to do my best to get a Taycan GTS ST.

Finally got a chance to go pick up my pink pig.

That frozen berry metallic really looks good under sunlight. 

And the gold trim, neodyme in Porsche speak, matches really well with my purple leather interior. Even the 918 style shifter is the same colour!

The interior is weirdly cool. The exterior I'm still on the fence about, does it need some carving lines  Congrats on the new ride!

Lol, as far as I know, there still isn't a second person in Canada that had ordered the wagon in pink yet. So literally whenever you see the car it will either be me or the gf driving. Right now she is, I am having too much fun in the Polestar 2.

I still have the insurance Polestar 2 rental. I actually didn't want to give it back.

My two boys love the styling of the car, I wasn't quite sure, must be the age thing. But they and I really really dig the lovely interior. I might actually go buy one.

Took it for a nice run up to Whistler and back.

This thing can handle! Rock Solid, body control is excellent, damping is spot on over uneven surfaces. Front rear balance is just about perfect. Volvo/Polestar really uses quality stuff. The Ohlins dampers really shine. It's great to see they spend the money on actually useful stuff, instead of fluff like extra cameras or powerful processors for functions that don't have ETA. 

My son went the same road in his friend's Model 3 and the ride quality in the Tesla is not even close he said. The Polestar 2 does not have the extra residue oscillations after a bump, it's just one motion and done. It's quick to take a set in turns, and a very stable platform after, not much extra body motions. Not quite Taycan level but close. 

A very nice balanced sports sedan. Like a 3 series. 400hp isn't much but it matches well with the chassis, doesn't feel over powering. The car gave me great confidence to push it. I am literally slinging it like I am in the Taycan and no objection from the car. Steering feel is spot on, there is 3 settings on firmness but all gave excellent feedback, 

Super super impressed with Polestar's tuning of the car. 

I would put it as a cheaper alternative to the Taycan for a driver's EV. If one values lateral Gs more than longitudinal Gs, which is like every person that loves to drive, there is nothing better than the Polestar 2 in that price range. 

It's too bad they are out of stock and a long wait.

But yeah no, seriously. The EV car market is great right now with all the competition, catering to different needs. 

Tesla no longer is the default choice, de facto best. There is literally an EV for whatever one's needs. 

If one wants the best, they go for the Taycan, the most luxurious, Mercedes EQS. Something similar to Taycan but cheaper, Audi e-Tron GT. Or something even cheaper, the Polestar 2.

For cheap EV, Leaf. Something more sophisticated and roomier and all around great performer, Hyundai Ioniq 5 or KIA EV6. Something cute? Mini EV.

Luxurious EV SUV? BMW iX. Their i4 is also a great sports sedan. Audi e-Tron was the old default for luxurious SUV. But it's getting old. 

EV pickup? Rivian, or the incoming Ford Lightning if someone wants a full size.

Rugged off-roader? Hummer EV.

For straight line thrills or for people that hates driving, various Teslas.

Last year, over 13% of all new car sales are EV here. Up from like 8% the year before. Tops the chart for the whole world. It's likely we will be the first to 50%. With gas price here head and shoulder above every place on North America, every EVs are back ordered, no one can just walk in and buy a new EV here, no dealer has stock except the Tesla lot and some Audi dealerships with e-Trons in stock.

And yes Mike, since we are the biggest market for Tesla, they keep shipping cars unsold here so people can walk in and buy. Happens every day of the week.

But what is the cost per mile vs gas?  Is that not important.  I get that both go up but…I’m at $.02 per mile and no maintenance costs. In 36k miles I have topped off the windshield washer fluid. 
Tesla’s real competition are EVs from China. Not from Europe and not any ICE. As Whoopsy points out with the Greely

Haven't had the need to compare costs but price of electricity is so so so high here right now, specially those countries like Spain where the tree hugging socialist party has shifted from nuclear energy to green energy before it was profitable that now we are left paying electricity as if it be were antimatter, so that the difference in savings with EV is not as significant here, and if you charge at a gas station then it's even similar cost than filling the tank with petrol/gasoil.

I also had the opportunity to test drive the Polestar 2 (dual motor 408bhp). I was alone and drove it really hard on empty country roads. The car wasn't equipped with the performance pack (std setup, no ohlin dampers) but had 20 inch wheels.

I agree with your assessment. The ride quality of the polestar 2 is impressive. It does not lean into corners, the steering felt good and the built quality is great. The power was adequate IMHO. I never felt the need to have more power. I even think it would become uncomfortable if it had more power. 

That being said, and I don't have much experience with EVs in general so I guess even the taycan will have the same issue, you really feel the weight of the car when you hit the brakes. The 2 tons of the car suddenly transfer to the front and it's not a pleasant experience. The brakes don't feel strong enough IMO. 

Also, the car feels too planted for its own good. There was some rain and I even encountered some hail. However, the car didn't budge one bit, even under full acceleration. Therefore the car feels a bit lifeless.

What I didn't like:

- interior space : the back seats are small and the boot is ridiculous. On the other hand, the driving position is good and I like the fact it feels a bit cramped at the front, much more like in a "sports car". It's no SUV or crossover for sure.

- the seats: very uncomfortable IMHO. The seats are way too hard for my liking, especially for a "family car"

- infotainment : not intuitive to say the least ; no apple CarPlay, which is a shame.

- sound system : very bassy for HK (I may a bit harsh on this one).

Within five miles of my house there are 5 -6 public EV charging stations which are free to use. No charge. No wait.   Usually at Malls or hospitals where you need them.  Have not seen any free gas stations. Ever. Imagine the line for such a station ?  
btw it is a myth that a Model 3 can’t corner. Stock the performance model corners far better than a Polestar and is tons more fun to drive. Complete BS that you would not like one just for the fun of driving.  But I get that some have not tried it.
