well, i enjoy the GT3RS very much even on (bad) mountain roads at low speeds. the turbo S gave me no pleasure at all in test drives and the turbo S cabrio is so ugly it makes the birds cringe at it when one drives by:::))). there is no substitute for the GT3RS sound experience and its 'directness'. all this works perfectly even on normal roads at semi legal speeds.:::)) i am still not at ease with the 911-type looks of my RS but once i am in and driving it i even forgive and forget the (lack of) esthetics.

If you drive the turbo s for a longer time (or have the GT3RS for longer and get used to it) that is very likely to change your current view. I did about 150.000km in GT2/GT2RS, i.e. I am well aware of the benefits of the GT setup. If you do this your view on the GT cars changes. They are just a bit boring to drive slow.

Of course, if one likes na engines the GT3 is only a logical choice.

BTW: I think the GT3RS is less beautiful than the turbo s cab Smiley Too much race car design without being faster. I don't want to attract attention - I want to be faster.

as everybody knows the fastest car on italian roads is always the local delivery truck::::))))

i don't care about attention or not. i care about the feeling the car provokes in me. and 150k km in a turbo S will not change that. the RS is doing ok in the feeling-compartment but it is a 911 nevertheless. that is why i shall go back to F.

The problem is that people don't care... If you drive a GT3RS or Ferrari in town most people will just assume that you bought the car to be seen in. Some people like, some people dislike that kind of impression Smiley Fact is, the GT3RS only looks "normal" on the track.

i am too old to want everybody to like me. it is neither part of my job description nor part of my private aspirations. and - luckily - i am not in danger of being mobbed by my neighbors like RC. also, so far my 'social' experiences with the GT3RS were very good, as they were with my 458 italia.

it will be a hard decision between the 488 speciale and the GT2RS, but i feel i need to return to maranello:::))) not because i have technical issues with the RS but simply because i miss the super car excitement and buzz every time i get in the car.

This is something I can really relate to. Whenever I enter the 991 GTS Cab, it feels like a "classic" car, a very nice one indeed but it has a bit of a vintage flair, it is difficult to explain. When I get into my R8, it feels like a different (car) world. I am really worried that after the four years, I can't go to a normal car again. Let's just hope that Porsche has a "960" by then and/or that I can actually afford such a car again. I cannot see myself not driving such a super car after the R8.

Regarding my (social) experience so far, it has been pretty positive. Lots of thumbs up wherever I go, which is weird considering the supercar status of the R8. People love it, they love the sound but maybe now people are nice because of the weather and all and they start being cranky again once winter comes back. Smiley

"What has changed since my last report on the GT2 is that I’ve watched the car moving now. I’ve heard the dirty growl from its turbocharged motor, and I’ve seen the black lines it’s leaving in 4th gear. And… today, I didn’t notice any PDK burping on the shifts.

    That means either:

    a) the driver wasn’t using sports-mode on the PDK ‘box

    or

    b) HALLELUJAH! REJOICE! IT’S A MANUAL!"

Re: 991 GT2 RS (2017) - Rumors, speculations and gossip Thread Closed

    c) They updated the shift software

But too obvious and not as exciting as speculating on manual

On many tracks there are noice limits.
So a track oriented car have to be quieter than a sporty "street" car.

The shifting noices and the noices when you lift throttle for example a GTS (991.1 and 981) produces, create noice peaks which can cause black flags.

Last week I was driving behind a GT4 and a Spyder. There it is similar.
Less crackels and overrun noices on the GT4, but still loud.
The Spyder produces noices in Sport Plus Mode when you lift the throttle, that it is near hurting your ears when you driving behind in a Cab. The GT4 had that noticable less.

Clearly that GT4 was broken  Or did not have PSE enabled.

On a more serious note, my GT4 is far louder than my previous 991 C4S with PSE. A 991 GT3 is louder than the Carreras. I don't buy into the theory that track oriented cars have been designed quieter than their road going siblings.

GT4 is clearly louder until 4000 RPM - after that it's no comparison to the GT3. I love the autoblip on the GT4 and driving the 997 RS back to back I failed miserably to match the perfect shifting you can do in a GT4  - A autoblipping Manual GT3 would be simply fantastic - even if considerable slower than PDKS....

Re: 991 GT2 RS (2017) - Rumors, speculations and gossip Thread Closed

PAG says that the cars (GT4/GT3/RS) are first and foremost road cars and that the sound levels follows the road regulations - not the track regulations.

FWIW: We have at least one Porsche owner here in Sweden that are trying to get PAG to take their responsibilty on track as well. Not successful yet what I know of.

Autoblipping is not "pure" so you can step up to PDK directly instead. smiley

+1 Auto blip is great (and I am a manual fan). You can always switch if off (even in Sport Plus).

    did you drove a GT4 ?

yes, I did  , twice . Once a few laps on a track and once for an hour on the street.

Next week I'll have one for 48 h . We will see if my feeling changes .

I like to ' blip' myself . Auto blip is a computer interfering with ' my '  manual shifting , a bit of PDK without the full efficiency .

Again for me, either full manual , of full electronic

Auto blip is a gimmick , it has no place in a true driver's car , specially in white Smiley

If self blipping is taken away, there is not much fun left in manual changing !!

A computer will always be better ...... hummm, have we not heard all this when arguing PDK/ manual Smiley
