Porker:And a face only its mother could love. Why does the market keep asking for these godawful creations.
Agreed. Maybe it is just the photo angle but... The rear is beautiful though, I really like it.

I think that people who love the contemporary Ferrari design will find the Purosangue desirable and pay a lot for it.
The 296 looks good from the rear but the front is also not so successfully styled. The SF90 also has an ugly front.
IMO the Urus styling is a more successful reference to the corresponding sportscars of the marque.
Finally, it is a bit funny giving the Purosangue name (literally Pure Blood, mainly in the context of a Thoroughbred horse) to a SUV rather than to a real supersports.
"Porsche....and Nothing else matters"
ISUK:The photo's were all over the net yesterday.
My son showed me this last Sunday, not sure where he saw it. I thought it would pop up on Rennteam the next day, didn't bother.

Topspeed:
This you think is Puro Sangue? looks like a new uglier Lusso.... I thought it would be more like a RSQ8 or Urus
Pure Blood what? I like my Lusso way better so far. And Madame's RSQ8 is much better too.
Everyone loves her RSQ8, the PS should be. a small "truck" comme ça:
And yes, the 296 is gorgeous except for the corvette front
It looks like this car has some complex aero going on. The upper "headlight" openings which are disected by the SF90 inspired daylight running light blades appear to be empty sockets. It looks like these channel air over the top of the wheel arch liner and then exit at the rear of the front fender just before the door mirror on either side. There looks to be a gap between the wheel arch liner and the hood so presumably this additional channel running from the front opening to the rear of the fender brings extra downforce by forcing the car down in the road from the air flowing over the hood and the channel created beneath it and above the arch liner. The main lights appear to sit just above the lower air intakes. Part of that lower intake looks to channel air into the wheel arch and the exit in a vent at the rear of the arch liner. There looks to be an opening in the leading edge of the rear arch liner that chanels air above the rear wheel liner and then exits around the rear tail lamp.

But why... It's an SUV.
I understand they want to add some pedigree but this is ridiculous. At the very least it should have looked good, but this really doesn't. You want an SUV, get a RR, you want a V12 sports car, get a Ferrari, imo...

If you get the appeal of a E63 station wagon, you can easy understand the appeal of a PR or Urus for example.
They are fun, especially if you need to move the whole family. You should really take the Urus for a drive, you would be surprised how agile this SUV is and how fun it is to drive. Watt loves his RSQ8 and the Urus is basically the sportier version of this SUV.

Yet you told a current Ferrari owner he doesn’t know what he is talking about on that vehicle.

I guess it is because an ever increasing number of younger buyers are buying performance SUV's in preference to traditional sports/exotic cars that come with more compromises in terms of space, packaging etc than an SUV does. At the price level Ferrari are said to be aiming this car it simply has to have impressive performance stats so that inevitably means lots of aero on what is a relatively high vehicle. The FF/GTC4 family just didn't sell in the numbers Ferrari had hoped for so simply repeating that recipe was unlikely to produce better results.
The Urus sales figures have totally eclipsed both the Aventador and Huracan combined so it was inevitable that Ferrari were going to follow suit. Even if this car doubles their annual output - though I'm not sure what capacity they actually have created to build it - they will still be minnows in total production terms. I'd imagine the profit level in each of these will be considerable, especially when the inevitable Atelier and Tailor Made options are heavily pushed to the customer base.
I personally think it looks promising. The leaked photo of the front is taken at an unflattering angle and Flavio Manzoni's designs almost always look far better in person than they come across in photo's. I'd rather see the headlights set up in the sockets but am guessing their apparent lower positioning is to do with legal height restrictions as there are a number of new SUV's that seem to be adopting a similar approach.
If you were to lower this car by around 30cm's or so you'd effectively be looking at a 4 door replacement for the GTC4 Lusso that incorporates elements of the SF90, Roma and 296. That would have been an interesting car but sadly sales would undoubtedly not have been as good.
It's not all bad news as the replacement for the 812 has apparently been finished in design terms and, like the Roma, adopts a much more curvacious styling language.

Consumer trends, especially in the premium and luxury classes, are prone to rapid changes too and one would not be surprised to see SUVs less dominate in this sector within five years.

Well it's a trend that has been steadily growing for over 2 decades after BMW introduced the world to the X5 and proved that a high sided car could be made to be fun to drive. Congestion isn't getting any better so high speed capabilities are becoming increasingly irrelevant. Other fads like minivans/people carriers have come and gone in shorter timeframes but the SUV format persists.
I'd like to think good taste would prevail and the coupe and sedan would return to being in favour but there is little prospect of that happening any time soon. The majority of new electric cars are following a similar high rise bulky styling route which is forced upon them by the need to package so many batteries in the floorpan. The SUV silhoutte lends itself perfectly to hiding this high rise styling and as a result I can't see manufacturers rushing to drop it, especially in the premium sector. Customers perceive they are getting more real estate for their money as it were with these cars and that is a perception, however misguided it may be, which manufacturers are keen to encourage.

VW is spinning off Porsche (IPO) to get additional financing for an all out blitz producing EV's. Their focus will be 50% EV by 2030. The URUS and the FP are headed toward extinction unless they electrify.

If the PS is as big of a success as Ferrari is hoping it will be, then an electric version of it would allow them to offset their carbon emissions enough to support their combustion engines for a little longer. As such I assume a lot of the R&D for this was focused on efficiency. Aerodynamics is a big part of EV range so better to get a jump on that sooner rather than later.

2030 is 8 years away Nick. That's a couple of model cycles for almost any manufacturer and both Ferrari and Lamborghini have already announced they will transition to full electric models. The PS will sell incredibly well as a result of it being one of the last cars to be powered by Ferrari's V12.

Quite true for the mass market vehicles but the trend will revert initially for the premium and luxury sectors.

Closer to one model cycles for many premium manufacturers. Urus product improvement should include some level of electrification in hybrid/PHEV format.

Good points.
I did not mean they would not sell well. The FP and URUS are in the ultra premium category and have their devoted followers. Nevertheless, they will be facing well funded gargantuan competition with VW (who has the had the benefit of Porsche engineers), Tesla and other companies much further down the road in producing EV. FWIW, VW is rumored to be selling Lamborghini.
