    Automatic locking

    I set up the car to lock the doors when the car goes into motion. It worked fine for the first three weeks. After not driving the car for a few days the car no longer locks the doors automatically. Anyone else seen this happen? I am not sure what to make of this and few other electrical locking issues that I have had.

    Good point. I had not thought of that. It is very possible that I grabbed the spare set by mistake. I will check it out tomorrow.

    I have the same problem, too. Same key.

    I don't have that issue - haven't used the car for a week while on holidays and it still works fine - in an 'S' you can program this your self - in my base carrera i had it programmed thru the dealership - this may make a difference too.

    Go to main>set>Autolock and choose: lock while setting contact, or when driving away or one other option and confirm.
    This is possible when you own a S with chronosport

    Sport Chrono Plus Assigns that particular key to those commands. It is key dependent. Furthurmore you all know, that if your Carrera sits for 1 week, not used, it goes in
    to "Sleep Mode". You must open the door with the key the first time you use the car; and then it will revert back to normal operation. Revvv

    I did the test today. The locking behaviour is associated with the key (997S- Sports Chrono). I used the other set of keys and the doors locked as before; changed back to the spare and it did not lock the doors (default behaviour).

    So the bottom line is that the locking behaviour is associated with the key and not the car.

    I learn something everyday about this car.

    Its not your fault, the Porsche key totally sucks. Its the first key I've seen that doesn't have a dedicated lock and unlock button. So you must visually confirm with the flashing lights how it works. On my other cars I can just turn and leave and press the lock button several times to make sure it locks.

    For instance, when I get to my garage, I don't know if the car is locked or unlocked (because I forgot) until I try the door because its useless to press the unlock button.

    Also there should be an indicator for the two keys. My Mercedes has at least a color indicator for the keys.

    Each of your points has bugged me at some stage. Drove my E60 BMW for the fist time in a while today... they really have their gadgets better sorted. I found myself thinking about the M5!. If Porsche decide to build a 4 door saloon they really need to study the opposition's luxury items.
