Well, if we compare 997S to F430, both cars should be equipped equally. That said, you should order the F430 with CCM, navi, HiFi, CD-charger, bluetooth and perhaps racing seats. And if you put all these goodies into your F430, it will cost you something like 175k, which is appr. 60k above the 997S, so not really within the same league pricewise.

And I'm also not that sure, that the upcoming GT3 with PCCB will be really that much cheaper than the 997S you've just chosen, Francoise.

That is very correct Rossi and puts things back in their place.
    Similar thing for the Turbo.
Would be interesting when the Turbo comes, wouldn't be surprised to see straight away a Turbo and a Turbo S.
Anyhow, equipped like my 997S (PCCB, Powerkit, Sunroof, etc.) the price difference would be almost restored. (Some items will be standard on the Turbo, I predict All Leather interior, Bose, Nav. and maybe even adaptative sport seats, but at least if not standard, definitely cheaper) but still...
As for the F430, yes, with all the gizmos and mostly Carbon brakes, the difference is restaured too.
Even if the GT3 will be more expensive, it will be by a small amount though. But hey, sooner or later, you gotta take the plunge... I have!

And you did ABSOLUTELY RIGHT, congrats again, Francoise!
(BTW, I'm not like zz, I like your colour! )

    Re: 997S ORDERED!

Perfect choice, Francois! Very good option list, I would have chosen the same, congrats.

I'm really sorry we can't meet at the factory, it would have been fun to pick up two cars at the same time.
But if you need company when you pick up your car in Zuffenhausen, drop me a mail. It is only a 80 minute drive from my home.

    yeah, it's a shame...

Thanks RC for backing my options, well, you kinda helped me a lot.

Getting frustrated with the dealer now to be honest, oh well, it's not his fault really.
He got the confirmation of the powerkit from Sept prod. onwards but still has no price.
As you said, if it is indeed 15000 Euros, even though it comes with sport exhaust, I would reconsider I think.
Would that be a mistake you think?
You know me, well, kind of , and to be 100% honest, we both know that 355hp would be enough for me.
But you know my situation, I can afford it and it's always nice to have a more powerful "special" 997S.
At what price do you think the powerkit is just overkill?
    Thanks for your input.
All the other options I am 100% sure of now.
And thanks for your trong recommandations on PCCB, you were not sure 100% on your first report back a few months but the fact that you recently wrote that they're worth every penny conforts me in my decision.
If the choice had to be made between PCCB and powerkit, I think it'd be PCCB then.
We'll see as soon as I get the official price of the powerkit.

    Francois,

I have NO idea what the powerkit will be priced at. But Porsche's typical behavior would be to add the cost of the 996 sport exhaust and powerkit, then subtract about 5-10% to make the 997 powerkit seem like a "relative value". I don't know what the 996 parts were in Euros, but the US prices would calculate to about $13000. I only say this to see what the actual number proves to be.

PS, your car sounds fantastic, and I hope you can stand the wait until September.

    Re: 997S ORDERED!

RC, which car are you expecting to be delivered?

    Re: 997S ORDERED!

Fanch - car sounds fantastic. You will not regret your colour choice - I have had slate grey and black interior now for the last 3 months and I always get SO many compliments about the car. When I'm at the dealership, people come and ask me what the colour is as it looks a bit unusual and different from the usual seal greys out there.

Very envious of your powerkit upgrade too...

    Thanks Ed!
The colour was a bit of a dilemma at first but I finally went for Slate. I thought it hard to justify the additionnal 1500 Euros to pay over a standard mettalic colour, plus the extra two months of waiting (at least for the french market) but as you said, on top of exclusivity it really seems to be gorgeous! Believe it or not, I've never seen the colour in real!
But I am sure I will not be disappointed.

As for the powerkit, don't hold your breath matey,
The dealer still hasn't confirmed me the price, at present, it is on my signed order, but we both agreed that, if I (i.e. RC ) find it too expensive, then I will remove it and only take the sport exhaust.

    Re: 997S ORDERED!

congrats! hope the wait is not too long!

cant wait to meet a 997 s on the racetrack and see if it's faster than my tt. those brakes must be tremendous...
