[My dealer told me to expect to pay roughly 12,000 Euros.
I will confirm this as soon as I get his email with the exact price.
I heard something below 10000 Euro incl. 16% german VAT. This would be almost the same price Porsche charged for the "old" powerkit and it would make sense.
12000 Euro would be way too much and I doubt that any customer would pay 12000 Euro for 26 more horses.
The latest semi-official rumour I heard even indicated something around 7000-8000 Euro incl. 16% german VAT for the powerkit. As long as we don't have any official number, we shouldn't speculate.

So far, he's just ticked the option box so that my 997S can go into prod as soon as they start rolling out the 06 models.

Interesting for a lot of people: the upcoming Carrera 4 is rumoured to get the same power like on the Carrera S BUT the Carrera 4 S may get the powerkit as a standard option from the start. Both, the Carrera 4 and Carrera 4 S are rumoured to have the wider body.
I'd wish that Porsche would be customer friendly and offer the powerkit at a special price for customers who bought their cars BEFORE the official announcement.
It would be OK if they'd pay for install, they could always make a deal with the dealers to send the "fixed" install cost bill to them.

Concerning the price of the powerkit:
Although I have no reason to disbelive you Fanch, I'd say 12k for what you get is rather exaggerated...

I would probably pay up to 8000 Euro for the 997 Carrera S powerkit...INCLUDING install. Considering the parts involved, I think that the install can't be too expensive, unless you need to remove the engine from the engine bay which remains to be seen. 8000 Euro and not one Cent more. I doubt that any customer is willing to pay 12000 Euro for 25-26 horses more. This would be ridiculous.

RC,
How much was the powerkit on the 996 mk2 please?
We should also not forget that this time, it comes with sport exhaust which is already 1700 Euros I think.

Not so the 996 one I admit, but to be fair, Porsche's powerkits have never been good value anyway
But 0 to 100 in 4.6 secs and a top speed of 300 kmh is rather impressive!

That's right, the money for the powerkit is just wasted, as you will never see one penny of it when you sell the car. And for me 4.8 sec and 293 kph is impressive enough.
But Fanch you are right, the 1700 Euro sports exhaust will be included.

I think I will add X51 even if there is a longer wait.
Will there be any visual clues that X51 is present ?
Yes, the third radiator.

Here we go with the new options for MY 2006:
- PCM 2 now reads MP3 files from CD in the internal CD reader.
- Suppresion of the storage pocket behind the sport seats.
- New two tones interior options (Black/ Stone, Black/ Sand and black/ Terracotta), already available for the Boxster.
- And FINALLY, the one we've all been waiting for! The Carrera S POWERKIT!
