very nice fanch!
regarding the color: don't go for seal grey!! -- although it's a nice color, it's IMHO way too common with porsches. if you like grey-ish tones, stay with slate (i haven't seen atlas in reality yet, though).
just because of this it'll be probably the most stylish S around
one question (...maybe i shouldn't post this in the P section ): why didn't you go for a F430? IMO your S price tag is not too far away from the F430 list price, and having depreciation in mind...

Are you sure about that? I live in Australia and Fanch's car would cost about $290k AUD and an F430 is about $440k AUD for the F1.

the F430 F1 is EUR 146.000 in germany -- and IMHO fanch's fully specced 997 S is not too far away from this. and having depreciation in mind, the F430 could actually be a bargain in comparison (and ferrari's slate color grigio silverstone comes as standard
)

Yes Carlos,
I don't have the exact details but I've been told that basically, from 06 models, the CD slot of of the PCM can read MP3 CDs.
Which is great considering the amount of tracks you can put on an MP3 CD!

Good question about about the Alu footrest.
It is not on the website but it is in the Porsche Car Configurator, that's how I heard about it. Looks good too! But purely cosmetic.

of course and IMO it is 99% certain that i cannot be retrofitted as a software upgrade.
It might be possible though to change thecd reader into an mp3 reader
Dont you think its stupid that Porsche did not include this in their original launch of the model?
They might also offer it in 06 models but as an extra with some charge

Wheels took me a long time to decide.
When I saw Basalt's car, I thought, I must order Sport design and then thought it looks a bit too fussy, and I must admit it, you don't get too see those huge sweet yellow calipers! Sorry it's vain.
So then, I went for Classic.
But realised that Classis are too... Classic. They're nice but you see them everywhere now, and mostly, I already have them on my 996.
So Standard 997S wheels it is then.
They look unique to the 997S which is great and give a very nice impression of Solidity and power. But I agree, they do look a bit fussy but I like them.

And Zzoba is right, the first few months, it's nice and different but now, it's the think I hate the most on my 996!
It looks cheap I think.
I am very relieved that you can order black dials on the 997S.
Just a matter of taste though...

But the NAV is now DVD based so I take it it will read MP3 on DVD not CD's, if so that would mean 4.7GB of MP3's in a disc

I need the back seats, either to carry people around or to load plenty of luggage.
I like the F430 but somehow, not in love with it. I think the Stradale is much prettier but too hardcore for everyday use.
997 Turbo will be 4WD and too heavy for what I intend to do with the car.
The only car that will make me cringe when it comes out is the next GT3, bc it will be cheaper than the car I'm ordering now and better.
And according to RC, sounds like it'll get PSM. So I guess it'll also get all the nice gizmos like Bose, Nav, etc.
Maybe just not rear seats and sunroof but add the aerokit.

But my 997S will give me plenty to handle anyway.

Well, if we compare 997S to F430, both cars should be equipped equally. That said, you should order the F430 with CCM, navi, HiFi, CD-charger, bluetooth and perhaps racing seats. And if you put all these goodies into your F430, it will cost you something like 175k, which is appr. 60k above the 997S, so not really within the same league pricewise.
And I'm also not that sure, that the upcoming GT3 with PCCB will be really that much cheaper than the 997S you've just chosen, Francoise.
