Is there any logic to buying cars? When it involves a

Ferrari apparently not. The MSRP on this car is probably $185,000.

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayIS...634942&rd=1

Now consider the poor CGT which will run circles around this car, is more exclusive and probably of like or better quality. Yet, presently a new CGT is being discounted up to 10% off MSRP. In a few months, it probably will lose another 10%.

Porsche is the blame for this fiasco. But as I have repeated ad nauseum they could care less.

Re: Is there any logic to buying cars? When it involves a

    Deja vu?

Re: Is there any logic to buying cars? When it involves a

    richie rich,
Maybe Porsche should cut production by 90%, sell 5000 cars a year at a higher price so us clueless rich guys that can afford to spend $185,000 on a car can brag about the Porsche market premium.

Re: Is there any logic to buying cars? When it involves a

How much is $280k Canadian ? About $225k US ?

As you make a habit of doing, you jump to conclusions without reading carefully. The bid is presently $280,000 US dollars and the reserve appears to be $320,000 US dollars.

Additionally, as I indicated in my original post the CGT is MORE EXCLUSIVE than the 430 and yet likely suffer about a 20% depreciation within the first year of its introduction.

This serves to illustrates my point that Porsche is not a car company that partners with its devoted client base.

    I'll second that!

Re: Is there any logic to buying cars? When it involves a

Seriously, it would be great if Porsche limited their annual production to the quantities of Ferrari, jacked up the prices so only the very rich can afford one and then continued to sell them to guys that routinely flip no milaege cars for premiums to even richer guys. That would make us all feel so good about our Porsche car buying decesion that we wouldn't even have to rub it in on the BMW message boards

You are reading challenged. The last time I looked this is a Ferrari site.

Re: Is there any logic to buying cars? When it involves a

No one is going to buy that ferrari anyway. I mean, $300.000 is a rip off.

By the way, porsches hold their value pretty well in europe. In the US it's another story cause the country is too big and there are too many porsches for sale on the second hand market.

So what is this Porsche "Fiasco" you refer to?

Porsche has to get their 1500 CGT's out before MY2006 law changes. So if the price dips, who cares?? Why are you complaining about discounts on a great car??

All of these cars are stupidly MSRP'd anyway and the S in MSRP stands for Suggested.

I have seen Ferraris rise and fall and rise again, then fall again. Remember when Daytona Spyders were selling for 1 million???

The CGT is probably the last of its type Porsche will ever build. So gamble on that and get one while they are cheap. 20 years from now we might be stuck with Chevordbenzarrai ekectric carts with GPS speed limiters.

The CGT may fetch a very high price years from now as the best Porsche road car ever built.

Tony that is the exact reaction your going to get from prospective buyers when you try to "unload your 997".
