When PSM works
I posted a query a while ago about why the PSM allowed the car to get out of line leaving a bend and allowed me to correct it, I was surprised it did not intervene. Following some helpful posts I tried the car in snow and satisfied myself that it was working correctly but simply not monitoring me too closely at low speeds- reckoned a good thing by enthusiasts.
Well I was out yesterday and overtook a slow moving car on a winding road and of course - weheee! I was off and running, all of you who drive the 997 know what I mean.
Then the next bend closed in on me with an adverse camber. I know I should have just trusted the car, but deep in my cerebellum (or wherever) the lizard in me was not prepared to wait and see. So I braked .
I understand in an early 911 I would not be here to write these words, but it was an excellent test for the PSM, the merest shiver of the car, a blink of an orange dashboard light and Uncle Ferdinand spared another customer.
The car went round the corner at a prodigious speed with very little assistance from the driver.
I am thinking of getting a dog, apparently they use them instead of co-pilots in modern airliners, they are trained to bite the pilot if he touches the controls!
PSM works very well thank you.
