I expect that for the "normal" driver this car will be faster than a 911, as it will require less skill and practice to extract fast progress, in the dry at least.

Don't know about homologation purposes.
On a normal aircraft wing, 2/3 of the lift is generated by the top surface, 1/3 by the bottom surface. So for car wings, which are in essence airfoils, this is the other way around. So therefore, the Swan necks were invented to have all the disturbances in the airflow as much as possible on the side that generates the least lift, in this case the top surface of the wing.
Looking at the structure of the swan necks of the GT4 RS, and how upright they are, I think that the turbulence behind the uprights is still right under the bottom surface of the wing, so any advantage is probably minimal, but it looks really professional, doesn't it? :D

Crossflow effects make the impact of the uprights negligible.

I read somewhere it was because of the rear diffusor. More effective like this. But maybe just marketing waffle

I happened to think otherwise.
A normal driver will always be faster in a modern 911. Porsche has tamed that rear engine layout down to a pussycat. It takes a major idiot to get a modern 911 out of shape especially in the dry.
This is a mid engine car, it is inherently "unstable" and wanted to change directions. One needs experiences to drive a mid engine car fast. And in equal configuration the mid engine car should be faster.
GT4RS did a 7:09, and from memory a 991.2 GT3 had a 7:13 or something. That's as close to an apple to apple comparison, 718 is still on the older 991 platform and they have almost the same HP.

There's a slim cut-out in the front fender, behind the front wheel, that looks a bit odd, tbh.
I guess in the final version we will see some sort of widening, e.g. some plastic bolt-on parts.
And yes, it's debadged, just look at the frunk hood, the GT4RS at the rear spoiler and the centre caps of the wheels. 
We're at the point where you can be the fastest or just sound like you're the fastest.

Wider front tires is just going to give it more front end grip and making the rear even more twitchy. Existing 245 tire is more than good enough, especially since the Cayman isn't lacking front end grip in the first place. It has more of it's weight up front, unlike a 911.
It looks like the front fenders seems wider than the regular GT4, perhaps it's was for wider front track.
I always battled understeer and front tire wear with my GT4. More weight on front axle means it deserves more rubber (otherwise 911's would have tiny rear tires 
).

Sounds like you are just scrubbing the fronts to shreds. Perhaps transfer a bit more weight to the front on turn ins to help the tire bite.
My ClubSport always wears out the rears first. I actually wish it has more rear rubber to have a bit more stable rear end.

…these side windows intakes will also be the reason for me not getting an RS…currently, l store my travel sweets in these litte compartments in my cayman…
