    Carrera GT - New High Quality Pictures!

    We hope you like them.

    Sad thing for Carrera GT customers: the cool TFT display in the middle (as on the Carrera GT prototype shown before) has dissapeared. No such thing on the production car.

    Very nice pics. Impressive super car (except for the shifter; and, yes, I know about its history). I wonder why they scrapped the TFT display? Durability, complexity, cost?

    ....the TFT doesn't look very original, I even think that it looks ugly.
    Just to make it look more sporty and classic, they made it just analog. (at least, that is what I think )

    I actually liked the TFT screen and Ferrari uses a similar screen on the Enzo. The Porsche TFT screen was able to change design on the push of a button, from classic to modern to whatever somebody programs into it.
    The reasons why they changed it are rumored to be cost, reliability and visualibility and most important: some very important customers didn't seem to like it, I wonder why?!

    Thanks RC for the fantastic pictures. If the rest of the car lives up to it's billing, I am OK about not having the TFT display.

    thanks, it sure is gorgeous but i just have to think the lighting is making it darker than it really is. aren't these silver pics GT silver:

    John, what IS the history behind the wood shift knob on the CGT. It really does look out of place. Don

    Where is the shift pattern - I believe it's a legal ( and liabilty ) requirment to emboss it on the knob or have it on a plate next to the shifter's base .

    The history behind the shift knob is that it is made to look similar than the one in the legendary Porsche 917 race car...

    The spin on the C-GT shifter position is that it falls to the hand better way up high . Maybe so, but it reminds me of recent Toyota minivans . Ergonomically, it doesn't make sense . Instead of shifting with your right shoulder quiet at your side and your elbow at 90 degrees with the lower knob , some drivers will have to constantly lift their shoulder away from the body and suspend the elbow to shift -it could get tiring in certain situations.

    Agree totally. While the top of the knob on the 917 may resemble the CGT knob the position certainly doesn't.
