Is it pronounced "Porsch" or "Porsch-a". Since I own one, I'd like to know for sure. My 4-year old says "Porsch-a".

...and by the way: It's pronounced "por-sche" with the "e" sounding like the "e" in "sherman".
So it's "por-scherman"....Just leave out the "-rman" and you'll be fine

I think I have a translation issue here: Do you pronounce the first syllable of "sherman" as in "Cher"? Or is it more like "shirt"?

Well, guys, I'm sorry, but in french it just sounds stupid when you say "porsh-uh".
Everybody says porsch, one syllab. Maybe in german you say porsh-uh but not in french.

Sorry to jump in on this one but if a German can pronounce RENAULT, CITROEN and PEUGEOT the right way, it is not much asked from french people to say PorschE, right?
Especially since Chirac and Schröder started a new Alliance Cordiale.

Hey, Fanch.
I recently made a hotel reservation here in the States. I told the reservation agent that my name was Michael. She had an accent that I couldn't quite place.
When I checked in to the hotel, my name had been spelled Michelle
Not even Michel.
Go figure.

It sounds "weird" in Germany to pronounce Lamborghini the right way...by pronouncing the "gh" like a "silent" G.
Most Germans say Lamborshini or something like that.
And I still say it the right way, it is some sort of intellectuall thing I guess.

Fanch said:... it would really sound weird if in France, you'd pronounce the name Porsch-UH. It is the right pronounciation, we all know it, but that's just the way things are I guess.
Different nouns are pronounced differently in different languages I guess....

Ever tried pronounving Vincent Van Gogh with a Dutch accent!
Exeactely, try to order an Amstel beer in the states... If I pronounce it properly (I'm Dutch) they look at me and have no clue what I'm saying and if they do they would correct my pronounciation

A more common mistake is Michael Shumacher.
With the right pronounciation, you should say the CH of Michael like a SH, and not Shumaker, but all engligh speaking people get it wrong.
We French get it right, go figure!!!
