GT 3 introduction near Venice, Italy
Surprisingly for a 911 without electronic stability management, the rear end stays planted even under provocation from the throttle.
The six-speed transmission carries slightly lower ratios than its predecessor in the top two gears, but larger tires even out the difference.

The air intake-rich, angular nose is an identifying mark of the fastest normally aspirated Porsche built to date.
The adjustable suspension can be set to optimal performance for either street or racing tires; lack of rubber suspension bushings give firm, sure control.
High on a mountain road there is no perceptible altitude-induced power loss.
Tractability at slow speeds is outstanding for a car with these performance figures, but rough roads take a toll with the stiffly suspended GT 3.
With its GT 3 logo and aggressive looks, this newest offering is a wolf in wolf's clothing.
