It isn't smaller than the CGT. Also, when you have this many horsepower, the hardware has to be beefed up to cope with the stresses.

cmon, This is a chopped up car with fancy materials. Even the engine is originally derived from Porsche.
"the 3,746cc twin-turbocharged flat six produces 700 horsepower and over 656 lb-ft of torque, which, according to RUF, enables the CTR3 to run from zero to 62 mph in 3.2 seconds and max out at 235 mph. Shifts come courtesy of a six-speed sequential manual gearbox. The tall shifter is capped with a metal knob and features prominently in the Ruf's leather-lined cabin. 15" 6-piston ceramic-composite brakes fore and aft handle the task of stopping this rocketship. The brakes are tucked behind a set five-spoke wheels sized 19" in front and 20" in back. As much a supercar as the Enzo, Carrera GT, and SLR McLaren, the CTR 3 is priced accordingly at Euro 380,000 plus VAT. That's over $510,000 US dollars at the current exchange rate"
lets put it to the test, Lets have the CTR3 with the same amount of HP as the carrera GT and have them do tests. I put my money on the CGT. or better yet pay ruf ( im sure they will accept) 80k to turbo charge your cgt. Then compare them.
i dont see what gives ruf the ego boost to try to create a superstar derived from a 911/987. I highly doubt this car to be as reliable as a cgt. I dont even think its a good idea for the car to be used in the middle east even though it's going to be built here. or maybe they created a couple of ctr3's and shipped them around the world for testing? How much does ruff make again?
IMO ruf is high on their own gas, They are an expensive tuner that has excellent marketing skills. They were able to position themselves as being "different". its a not a 911 any more its a 911 with bigger turbos, a new aero kit, different wheels and most importantly a ruf emblem on the hood.
I forgot, they issue cool RUF VIN's with their cars too.
lets calculate the cost of the car ( all figures are exaggerated to the most)
1 997t 150k
1 cayman 50k
1 super cool of the shelf sequential gearbox 30k
1 roll bar integrated into frame 10k
1 super cool body kit and rims 100k
1 tuned 911 engine with 700hp 100k
1 sexy interior 30k
1 labor charges 40k
that comes up to 510k.
i wonder how they make a profit, since ive neglected the cost of R&D. so that another BILLION dollars, (isn't that how much it cost to create the cgt)
now if this cost 200k, or evn 250k. Then its worth it.

I think your list is a bit high - a couple of thoughts:
1. Ruf buys parts wholesale
2. If you included a whole 997TT, that already has the same motor (which you charged $100k) which receives some tuning.
3. Other prices look pretty inflated
But, it's a very cool car that may very well be worth the price!

Amir, you always pay for brand prestige. AFter all, the 997 Turbo isn't really worth anywhere close to $150.000 and neither are the Ferraris and Lambos. It's the brand itself.

It's a weird car with kind of 997GT3 front, CGT midle and Cayman rear part. There's no character at all, and an exoctic, as this car is ment to be, must be unique.
It looks nice, ok but a Cayman S also looks nice if you know what I mean.
I wont doubt this car will smoked badly in straight line performance any supercar like Enzo or CGT, the question is during how long.
Anyway it's nice to see RUF flying high and trying to show the world what they are capable of, personaly I never thought they could reach such degree in car business.
