d997h:I am just a curious reader here, but why should Porsche introduce a 12cyl engine, since "they" have downsized nearly every engine whenever they could for the past 2 years ?
They downsized the "regular crowd" engines...
Look at the R8: Do you really think Audi would sell a single R8 without that fabulous V10 engine? I doubt it. The R8 is a fantastic sportscar but it lives from being a relative of the Huracan and of course it lives from it's V10 engine. That rumored V6 Biturbo with 500 hp Audi seems to want to introduce as an entry level model, may not be the best idea they have.
A wonderful 12-cyl. would make sense in a completely new and exclusive model and of course this would be the top model. I doubt the Panamera Coupe (or whatever name it will get) will have a V6 or a Diesel but I see a Biturbo with close to 600 hp and a 12-cyl. with something close to 700 hp. Makes sense and the price tag will be accordingly high. Not sure it will be 300k high but probably not much cheaper than the Bentley.
