It was in great shape but the paint was a little tired so I am having a bare metal respray done which has revealed a remarkably intact and original body and chassis - highly unusual for these.

So beautiful - money in the bank. Might have been better off not repainted if it was original paint. Don’t know.
It was not original paint. 4 Cam one day for sure. Need to find the right one. Best to drive/ engine is in the 356 B Carrera 2 but I prefer the shape of the pre-A coupe and Speedster.

I´m not 100% sure about the big chrome bumpers, but may be a good thing in London´s parking traffic.

I agree on the bumpers but they need to stay on a 58 to maintain authenticity etc. and the provenance. I had them taken off a 57 Coupe but that is a much less valuable car:

Unbelievably cool Cray, and the black 57 without the bumpers has to be the best looking version of this body I've seen.

This takes me back to my earliest memories of Porsche. In 1959 my father had a Super 90 convertible (I think it was purchased in 1958) that was light blue. It had two roof options. A normal black cloth roof and a hard top in white. We had a rope and pully system in our garage where the hardtop would hang when not used. The interior was dark red. My father was into doing hill climbs at the time, and I recall him taking off the front bumpers (when competing) in order to save weight. I was very, very young at the time, but that car (along with all the other Porsches he owned during his lifetime) are deeply implanted in my mind. After all, they were my older (and much more important) brothers.

This is a Picture of my father and the Super 90 after winning the Polana Hill Climb (Mozambique) in 1961.
The picture is taken from a very large book that I own about the history of Motorsports in Mozambique so apologies for it being so blurred. (The picture is actually from a newspaper clipping )
I just "dig" those white walled tires!!!

Back in the day, Mozambique has quite an active Motorsport scene. Mozambique is a neighboring country to South Africa and we all know that SA had a tremendously vibrant and rich Motorsport history (They had their own F1 championship back in the 60's. Also the first full sponsored liveried F1 car was the Gunston (sponsor) F1 car driven John Love). Many SA drivers came to race in events held in Mozambique. Mostly Rally, but also sportscar races held at quite a good track which is very close to where I currently reside. In fact, in some years, the races held in Mozambique actually counted toward the SA championship. All that is in the past, but your superb pictures struck a chord in me, and all the old wonderful memories returned. Now back to your Speedster.
BTW - the book is huge. It weighs 5 Kg..so the history is quite extensive.
