    Gallardo!

Definitely a "Baby" Murcielago in looks, but with a V10 5.0L 500hp engine, it is no baby. I like.

Cool pics, Thanks (couple more here)

    Re: Gallardo!

    Great!!!
The back looks a bit square but it'll do!
    I love it!!!
Autocar mentionned 0 to 62 in 4 secs and a price tag of Pounds125000
this makes it 30% more expensive than the 360,
    Ferrari better react soon;)
    Fanch.

    Re: Gallardo!

    WOW. Any price tag?

I actually don't like the front lights. (The proportion to the wide front).
Can't wait to read some specifications like weight etc.

    Avi

    Re: Gallardo!

I have everything from this week's Autocar:
Weight: 1430 kg, humm, a bit heavy for me...
    500hp at 7800 rpm
    top speed: 192 mph
    est price in UK: Pounds125,000
    Voila!
    Fanch.

    Re: Gallardo!

If they really could make it 1430 kg it would be a great achievement, but knowing how Lamborghini is overoptimist in its weight claims I suspect a real weight of around 1520-1540 kgs

    Re: Gallardo!

1430kg with four wheel drive is quite good if you ask me. The price is also reasonable given the numbers.

    Re: Gallardo!

Yes you are right in fact,
    This is all very good!
Not sure about the square rear though
    Fanch.

    Re: Gallardo!

i love the specs, but i don't love the audi background. this car lacks anything italian! the styling is not italian, the engine is not italian and it's manufactured 70% at the audi plant in ingolstadt.

same thing VW does with the bentley continental GT which is a remodelled phaeton

badge engineering sucks!! at least in the supercar field.

(sorry for my strong language, but i think VW/audi is arrogant thinking that it's all about the badge. it's not.)

    Re: Gallardo!

I absolutely agree. The styling is disappointing. The front - all right - something like a shrunk Murcielago (and I don't like his styling either), but look at the back: terrible. It has more in common with the coolish technical Audi style than with the aggressive and special Lamborghini styling of former models.
And I really wonder, if it's good for such a special car, to share its main technical parts with "normal" road cars. Even the V10 will sooner of later be seen in Audi models.

By the way: In German Newspapers they reported a price tag of 190.000 €, which seems quite expensive to me (on the other hand a price of 150.000 € is also mentioned).

    Regards

    Re: Gallardo!

You have a right in those points,
But you have to see also the advanteges. Suitable for daily use, and more. As I said in the above mentioned points you are right, bur whats bad on german sport cars? PORSCHE? Germans have a good know how to produce stable sport cars, and for me personaly it's very important.
Look at the CGT, I was very surprised as I saw the service intervals. Respect!

    Re: Gallardo!

    avoe,

you are right -- i have nothing against a practical, usable supercar which can by driven every day.

but does it have to look like it? IMO the USP of a lamborghini is it's extravangant looks. think of the early countach or -- maybe the best looking supercar of all times -- the legendary miura. the diablo was not practical at all, but it got road presence. the wedge shaped murcielago is a little bit too edgy for my taste, but it looks like from outer space (or a stealth fighter) and it got those awesome wing doors. but now... the gallardo is only one thing: boring. looks more like a VW W12 supercar than a lamborghini. at least to me.

    Re: Gallardo!

Don't get me wrong. I have absolutely nothing against German sportscars or even German engineering.
Porsche (and that's what comes in my mind when you mention German sportscars!) builds absolutely perfect cars. Perhaps they got a little bit too perfect (what means boring), with too emotionless styling and cheap looking interior, but models as the GT3, GT2 and of course the CGT look too me as a tunraround in this philosophy.
But Lamborghini is like Ferrari an ITALIAN sportscar and for me Italian sportscars have to have a better styling and a more unique technique than this Gallardo (have a look at the fabulous Challenge Stradale for example). That really doesn't mean, that they should be a pain to drive or not be usable for everyday driving. Also I don't like a technique, that's not reliable and where always something gets wrong or broken. Ferrari understands, their cars are practical enough but still are so special.
And why? Because they are not influenced (e.g. by Fiat) as Lamborghini is by Audi!

    Re: Gallardo!

Thank god Ferrari is NOT influenced by Fiat!!!
    Fanch.

    Re: Gallardo!

Do you think Fiat's influence on Ferrari is too big???

    Re: Gallardo!

Or let's better put it like this:

Perhaps it's better for an Italian sportscarmaker to be influenced by Italians than to be influenced by a German firm like Audi or VW

I wouldn't like to see Porsche being bought by Toyota either (nothing against Toyota !!!)

    Re: Gallardo!

No, on the contrary, I think there is no influence at all TODAY between Fiat and Ferrari.
Fiat is not doing well today, but hopefully, they'll do better in the future.
Ferrari were, are and will always be the most beautiful cars of the whole auto industry IMO, especially when you see the opposition.
Porsche are great but not exactly beautiful, Lambo are a bit too edgy IMO, BMW, well, no comment... , MB are beauties but no sport cars, only Aston can compare in terms of look IMO.
    Fanch.

    Re: Gallardo!

    hi,
i also don't like the influence of audi (design) on lamborghini.
i don't like AWD. but as the murcielago got audis (quattro) AWD, the critics were quite good.
eventhough i would like lamborghini to let buyers to decide if they take 4WD or 2WD maybe as porsche does.

according to gallardos v10-engine (someone said something about this):yes, it will be used in an audi. i dont remember the name but take look at the current "auto motor und sport-magazine". this silver, and IMO good looking coupé.

    Re: Gallardo!

In the new "sport auto" magazine they give us a price tag of 139.200 Euro for the Gallardo.
