    Slower than a GT3 is a fair guess.

    Those won't disappoint.

    I am skipping the 992 GT3 and GT3RS and go straight to the GT4RS.

    Those buying a 992 GT3 is just wasting their money. 

    At 6th/10 to 9th/10, the new front geometry won't make a difference on the GT3. It's only noticeable when one pushes past 9th/10 when the improvement shows up. And only at the hands of a capable driver.

    On paper they are the faster car as the capable drivers can take advantage of the extra grip above 9th/10. Not many are actually in that 'capable' category however.

    Those who 'think' they are capable but aren't actually officially in the 'capable' category would be much better served with a GT4RS. 

    After the 918, there isn't a better driver focused street car until the GT4RS. And no, this isn't about manual transmission or not. This is about how the car communicate to the driver and the other way back.

    I am skipping the 992 GT3 and GT3RS and go straight to the GT4RS.

    Those buying a 992 GT3 is just wasting their money. 

     

     

    After the 918, there isn't a better driver focused street car until the GT4RS. And no, this isn't about manual transmission or not. This is about how the car communicate to the driver and the other way back.

     

    GT4RS interest skyrocketed to the moon....Smiley Please promote the 992 GT3. Let the connaisseurs have a GT4RS experience in full discretion Smiley

    Two problems with the GT4 RS 

    1. It has been seen for the last 3 years. Parts taken from the 991 GT3 RS . It looks good, but does not look new.

    2. Engine. It is not (most probably) a GT engine.  No screaming to 9000 rpm.

    I guess that they can pump up the current engine to something like 460 hp and that‘s it. Porsche will further tweak some aero or whatever, put some drama to it and call it the RS. I simply could not see a lot of hard core 911 enthusiasts to swap „car layouts“ …. Wait and see …

    A2168829-BE66-4DC8-9203-17EA4600BA90.jpegQuick update (rennteam thread special) - the Turbo is looking spectacular!  The wheels are soooo light!  The offset is perfect, maybe a bit more offset than stock but by mm.  On a short drive to get a feel for the old tires I could tell the unsprung weight difference immediately.  Don’t worry, not going over 50. Shopping for new tires but will need to autocross these or something fun - there is like 80% tread left.  After a two week lake delay I got busy in the early morning while it was still under 95 degrees. It’s the humidity that really sucks.  Let’s just say the car lost weight and so did I.  All garage doors open to keep some air moving!
    No big deal though. Reminded me of working in a gas station charging tires as a 16 year old on 100 degree days. Done it hundred of times. Never had this much joy doing it though!  Here are a few pics. The car is properly dirty and will get a wash in a day or two. Then we can do a shoot on the Plaza with the exotics that troll the area.

    Still will be missing a screaming GT engine, still using 3 years old parts bin from the 991 GT3 RS

    Probably a very enjoyable car on public roads and an excellent track tool but not GT3 level.

    Given a choice, I actually prefer rear engine (maybe the fault of 20 years of 911 track driving has warped me).

    However, I do prefer a smaller car (would gladly shrink the GT3 if I could).

    Can you give us a hint about suspension changes.  This is where I think the GT3 has a big advantage on track over the GT4.  Will the 4RS continue with struts at all 4 corners?   If so, this is a limitation in my mind.  Have they managed to squeeze more rubber under the front fenders (another issue resulting in understeer and front tire wear)?

    Then there will be lots of 911 GT3 slots open!  Yeah!  
    All this number control by Porsche will be interesting when the EVs come into play. 
    Personally I hope an RS EV is never built. Don’t do to the RS what Ford did to the Mustang. 
    Porsche EV should be Tartan if top spec.

    The GT3 engine wasn't designed for a midship configuration and the engineering costs would be too exorbitant to justify its inclusion even in the RS variant.  The suspension modifications are more economically viable.

    The new front GT3 suspension isn't going into the GT4RS, if that's what you asking. 718s are still on the old 991 'platform' after all. 

    The new GT3 is a great handler, there is no question about it. That new front end transform the handling of the car. On and off track. GT3RS is the next inline to get that new suspension. Perhaps the next version of the GT4RS will get it, once the Cayman/Boxster migrate to the 992 platform. 

    Like everyone else, I have been on forever with the rear engine 911. Raced on a Cup car and also 'daily-ing' my GT4 Clubsport on track. I know what the 911 will do when pushed, but I really like the agility the Clubsport provides. 

    Think I am the one that broke the news on the GT4RS just about 3 years ago, here and Rennlist. It still is the car I am waiting for the most.

    There are times when one don't need the latest and greatest. Or the fastest. 

    I reckoned I probably would have more fun in the Alps in a GT4RS than the new GT3. On those narrow roads the smaller car is a better choice.

    I think I would agree if I wasn't addicted to the Manual gearbox (I'm the crazy one who likes it better on Alpine roads as well as track).

    Porsche made that statement with the release of the GT4. The Motorsport 4.0 liter cannot be worked to fit the space of the 718 layout.
