    Any ideas on a good garage hydraulic lift manufacturer?

    I was curious if anyone has or is planning on installing a garage lift to "double" the capacity of your garage. Who makes the best lift for residential purposes? I have an existing car that I don't want to get rid of or park outdoors. This seems like the next best thing in lieu of adding on to my house.

    There are only two names I know. Probably both manufactured by the same outfit(joking). Bend-pak (blue paint job) and ??? which has a red paintjob. I bet they both have excellent longevity and safety for light hobbiest usage. They're four posters. You might have to have your garage door opener mechanism raised up. In reality they clutter up the garage bigtime. make everything an effort to get around.

    I looked at several at the SEMA show last Fall, and although I haven't purchased one yet, I liked the Revolution lift by Rotary Lift. It is available in various colors. They have various models depending on the height you want to lift, whether or not you want a casters for mobility, etc. They have ALI/ETL certification, compliance with ANSI and OSHA standards and are manufactured to ISO 9001 standards. They are electric, 110 or 220 volt. www.revolutionlifts.com 800 604 3359. I agree that they take up a lot of footprint space.

    I bought a "Eagle" lift about 3 years to work and store my Porsche's. Last summer I bought another. They work great. They are pretty heavy to set up by yourself. Which ever one you decide on check to see who assembles them and then check to see what the cost is to assemble them. You can check www.eaglelifts.com..

    I suppose this is a good idea....only if the older car with possible leaks (RMS?) is at the bottom... Hmmm... Do these lifts come with complete lower plate (for upper car)or ceiling (for the lower car) to catch the possible leaking fluids or oils from the upper car?

    Looks like the products from www.revolutionlifts.com have optional pans and plates between runways under the upper car. I just might get me one of those...

    I too have an Eagle lift, but mine is a twin post version, not a four post type. I specifically bought it to be able to park a second car underneath. I considered the four post type, but believe that the twin post is much more useful for actually working on the car. I have in fact had a car on the lift for two winters now and have had no problem. There are mechanical hard stops every six inches so the weight is not supported by the hydraulics.

    The lift cost $2500, free shipping and I installed it myself. The only help needed was for about ten minutes to raise the posts to a vertical position.

    This is one of those tools that you figure you can do without untill you have it and then wonder how you ever got along without it. I just love it!
