E55 - Let discussion begin
The most fascinating engines always have 8 cylinders. And they are even more impressive when they come from Mercedes-AMG and are supercharged by a compressor, like in the E 55 AMG. More than any other engine in its class, the AMG 5.5-liter V8 Kompressor engine offers you unlimited potential in any driving situation. 700 Nm of torque and 350 kW (476 HP) of power speak for themselves. Add to that the AMG SPEEDSHIFT(R) 5-speed automatic transmission and AMG steering-wheel gearshift. Quicker shifting, optimized shift points and active braking downshift ensure unsurpassed driving dynamics and driving pleasure.
The E 55 AMG's performance record as well as its technology - e.g. the AMG sports suspension with AMG shock absorbers and AMG stabilizers based on semi-active air suspension AIRmatic DC, and the ESP(R) system customized to AMG specifications - mean optimum vehicle control at all times. The steel rear cross member with reinforced screw connections was customized to suit the E 55 AMG's exceptional driving-dynamic potential. Naturally that also applies to the AMG high-performance braking system, which was clearly developed on the basis of racetrack experience. Large, internally ventilated and perforated disc brakes with 8-piston fixed calipers in the front and 4-piston fixed calipers in the rear and SBCTM (Sensotronic Brake Control) ensure outstanding delay values.
