Please need your opinion from folks in SoCal.

About to pull the trigger on 997s , but need your opinion (folks in SoCal).
So far I have talk to three dealers (Newport Beach, Circle in Long Beach and Pacific in Torrance) and would greatly appreciate your opinion and experiences in dealing with their sales people and service department.

Also I'm located in Mission Viejo in South Orange County.

Sales at Circle is excellent. Ask for Rainer, he is excellent. Very down to earth dealership. When I was looking to get my car, i visited every dealership in So Cal except the one San Diego. This is by far the best one.

Re: Please need your opinion from folks in SoCal.

Thanks FelixC for your reply, have you take delivery of your car yet from Circle? If so how's the after sales service so far?

Re: Please need your opinion from folks in SoCal.

Did you get a break on the msrp? Just curious.

Re: Please need your opinion from folks in SoCal.

no, I did not. just some freebees.

Re: Please need your opinion from folks in SoCal.

I bought mine from Circle. After sales service is quite good. I stopped by Newport for something and talked to them. They seemed helpfull too. If you're in MV getting to Circle will be a hassle. I'd go to whomever is closest and get friendly with the service manager. It seems to make a difference.

Re: Please need your opinion from folks in SoCal.

I have bought five cars from Newport Auto Center. Their way of doing business is to use the bulk of their allocation for customer ordered cars. They order very few cars to put on the floor. So, even though they are one of the top five dealers in the USA they often don't have any new cars on the floor. On the other hand you can drive out to Riverside and they typically have cars available to drive home, but they are loaded up with options. The salesman at Newport I deal with is Elden Lauterbach. He has been there for many years and really knows the product. He is low pressure and once you order a car he will keep you informed of the progress. He will fax you updates on your car as it moves through the system. I don't know if they will deal on an S model, but they might on a non-S. I am going to pay window sticker for my S cab, but I wanted to be the first person to get one. You may pay a little penalty for that. When things cool down they might deal.

Thank you for your input, SrfCity and PS CA.

PS CA, What are your experiences in dealing with their service department? From scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the best how would you rate them?

I have had excellent service from them. They have always given me a prompt service appointment and they get the car done on time. I have even stopped in without an appointment when a problem that couldn't wait popped up. I have also taken it in for an oil change and they did it quickly while I waited. So, in comparing them to other dealerships, I would have to give them close to a 10.

I cannot buy a car from someone who doesn't know their product. My wife gets embarrassed because I ask the salesmen so many questions (to which I already know the answers). It is just my way of separating the men from the boys. Elden at Newport always has the answers. Nice dealership at a nice location.

Re: Please need your opinion from folks in SoCal.

I just leased a 997 from Pacific. I live in LA and therefore shopped them against dealers both in this part of town and, just to make sure, an out-of-state dealer. I found that, at the end of the day, Pacific was relatively aggressive to make a deal. This means a reasonable discount to msrp, a low buy rate on the lease and, when it became critical to closing the deal, they made a dealer trade for a car on the East Coast that fit my specs. Bottom line is that I would recommend Pacific with the caveat if you do not ask, you will not receive.

Re: Please need your opinion from folks in SoCal.

    Steve,
I think you can probably do that on a 997 (there are a few around) the 977S seems to be pretty thin on the ground. I really tried hard to get a deal on an S, I didn't have very much luck....Best offer I got was $2000 off a May build.
I ended up buying out of state, but out of the LA dealers, my preference was Pacific as well....(will probably use them for servicing)

Re: Please need your opinion from folks in SoCal.

    Hello jfraser,

I live in Torrance. Would like to ask about your out of state purchase (and the 2000 off offer) if you don't mind. Is it ok if I email you some questions? My email is cannga@pacbell.net , please drop me a line.

    Thanks and regards,
    Can
