Joost:You show me where Hamilton was significantly in front... I watched this movie, and I can't find it.
For a brief moment, VES and HAM seem to be on the same height, but Max is on the outside and thus will be able to take the corner at higher speed. He left enough space for HAM, but HAM, being on the dirt, understeered to the outside and couldn't avoid hitting Max, who was on the racing line. Hamilton was further to the left than necessary and couldn't make the apex anymore. I am inclined to blame Hamilton, but I also know that these things happen in fractions of split seconds. Yes, Max is an aggressive driver, but I don't think overly aggressive. This is racing, and as sad as I am, I think it was a racing incident.To be honest, the diagram you posted Aldo, which situation of the four is applicable in your opinion?
If you look at it from the perspective that Max was overtaking, I think the third image from the left is applicable, so it was Max's corner. If you look at the perspective that Lewis was overtaking, I think the leftmost image is applicable, and then the "Vorausgesetzt du schaffst sie sauber" is definitely applicable as well, as Lewis would never be able to drive that corner cleanly, hitting the apex.Anyway, I am just one of these livingroom drivers with no track experience whatsoever, so take my biased opinion with a grain of salt!
The green car is the car overtaking the red car. So in this FIA diagram it is only scenario totally left.
With significant I mean HAM has passed more than 50% of VER car, like on the diagram the left pic. HAM din't move to left. VER moved to the right. HAM didn't leave enough space - that was his fault.

At that point of the race Ham could not have turned more to the right, coldish tyres, full fuel tank. he could have lost traction. Its way too punchy to be where he was at 200mph off the racing line - ""cock up"", but he got away with it.

Bigger picture is that this season is going to be exciting to watch!!
Heck, right now I am hoping they keep crashing into each other the rest of the way, and Norris comes in from nowhere to steal the title, like back in 2007 with Hamilton and Alonso and Kimi.

Bigger picture is that this season is going to be exciting to watch!!
Heck, right now I am hoping they keep crashing into each other the rest of the way, and Norris comes in from nowhere to steal the title, like back in 2007 with Hamilton and Alonso and Kimi.
I knew I wasn't the only one hoping for more twisted carbon and unharmed drivers.

"I think Lewis had more than half a car alongside Max. So in a way, Lewis could not disappear from that inside line, it's not that you can vanish.
"It was an unfortunate moment of the race, but nothing intentional, or nothing that any of the two drivers did wrong in my opinion, so that was an unlucky moment."

I love this season, I cant remeber the last time I enjoyed a season that much!!! If you ask me they can keep doing the same thing all season long

Jolyon Palmer's excellent take on the incident. A long one too. Most impartial I have found.
Discussed the Max/Lewis one, Charles/Lewis one, even provided a carbon copy incident from before between Grojean and Sainz at the very same corner in the very same positions for both cars.
Literally dissected the whole first lap battle between Max and Lewis.

Completely different subject now:
After the Race ended, and the crowd left. Look who is on the grandstand helping with clean up. None other than 4 time World Champ Vettel.
Aston Martin didn't mentioned it, F1 didn't publicize it, no one else picked this up either. But one of the F1 photographers happened to noticed and snapped the pics.

Jolyon may not have been a great driver, but he turns out to be one of the best F1 pundits. I always look forward to his analysis on Youtube right after races.

I really love this f1 season. So many actions.
I was always Alonso fan and love seeing him driving so good - he has also as a person developed.
Lando is for me the best - not only because he drives the right car 😉. But he is so smart and so an effective driver.
Max, Lewis, Russel, Leclerc and maybe Carlos are completing the best of 2021 season.
This season I have not one race or qualifying missed.
Hope we will have more discussions also on Rennteam.
