Along with the black tops, you get a German flag on a silver background

Good eyes Mike never looked at that way .

    Re: Enough cab for you?

i still cant convince myself to like the cab more than the coupe, just misses the back flares

    Re: Enough cab for you?

Yup, the cabs are compromisez between a beautiful sportscar and a not so beautiful poseurscar... Just my $0,02

I have owned coupes and cabs. After my first cab I could not go back to a coupe. Where I live I can drive top down most of the year. I hate it when I have to drive with the top up....it feels so closed in. At this point for me it is either cab or none at all.

I happen to like the look of the cab. Here in the USA about 50% of the cars sold are cabs. Does liking the wind in your hair make you a poseur?

    Re: Enough cab for you?

haha, no, you are right Ron, I overstated a bit. But I think there are a lot of cabs sold because people want to be seen, rather than having the wind in your hair.
Fact is; I don't like most cabs.

These were the three launch colors of the 997 coupe. I'm not surprised at all.

    Re: Enough cab for you?

Another bonus with a cab....being able to more fully enjoy the sound of the Porsche engine. I didn't even upgrade to the Bose sound system because I enjoy listening to the engine more than the stereo. Plus in a cab you don't really get to enjoy high fidelity sound with the top down no matter how good the system is.

Probable media launch cars . These photograph / show body changes/ sell magazines the best . ( When's the last time you saw a black car given for media testing ? )

    Coupe or Cab?

I have owned a Boxster S and now a 996 cab. And I love the cab don't get me wrong but it's always a case of weighing the for and against.

To me personally, the 911 cab is hardly a looker, a fine car for sure, but it's a bit of a quasimodo compared to its coupe brother. It looks really like a hunchback.

But I love open air driving and yes, the engine sound is much much better in a cab than in a coupe, logical after all.
However, driving a coupe with windows down and sunroof opened is not like a cab but it's a step in the right direction.
And you have other advantages (better looking IMHO, stronger rigidity, less scuttle shake thought the steering wheel and more storage space/ seating space in the back).

When I was time to chose my car, it was a cab 100% and nothing else. But then somthing happened, a year later, a member of my family got a SL500.

Now that's a good looking cab! And that roof! Simply awesome!
When you've tasted a folding hard top, you can't go back to the cheap looking fabric roof.
I know I know, farbic roofs are lighter, but that's just my opinion.
Driving top down is all about cruising in the sunshine, and that, the SL does better than the 996 cab (it's much more comfy and almost as fast (when cruising of course)).

I have the chance to have both cars now, so yes, my next car will be a coupe.
Much more classy, and less of a poseur image.

I know most of us on this forum don't own a cab for its poseur image, but unfortunately, that's the general perception

One last thing, if I lived in California, and had to go for just one car, then 997 cab for sure.
But I live in France/ UK (use the cab about four months per year) and have an SL, so coupe for me

    Re: Coupe or Cab?

hmmmm, Coup or Cab you ask? I say get them both if you can.My preference is cab 997S and coup 997 TT.
Close your eyes and imagine this, 8PM on sat night, 80 deg outside, top down, all windows down, shift down and hear the roar of c2s cab. Cant wait to get mine in about 6 weeks.

That's my guess. Where's this, with palm trees in the background? Dubai or someplace like that?
