Guys, just in case you are interested: I asked Porsche for the drag coefficient of the Gt3 and Gts They kindly replied and I found the answer somehow surprising:
Luftwiderstand "Cw-Wert" der angefragten Derivate:
GT3: 0,34
GT3 Touring: 0,35
GTS Modelle: 0,32-0,31
I wonder why the Touring, who shape wise is mostly the same as the Gts would have the highest value? Even higher than the Gt3 with fixed spoiler?
I imagine that these measurements are taken without extended spoilers. If they were taken with the spoilers raised then maybe it could be that the Touring one stands steeper in the wind. But what do I know… II have not read any comments in the presentation or interviews with AP in this regard.
Any thoughts on this?
This was the case with the 991.2 GT3 also (Touring has more drag). I think the measurement is taken with the wing in the raised position (the aero drag is negligible at the low speeds where it stays retracted, so that wouldn't make sense to measure it there). In the 991.2, the rear wing in the Touring raises to a steeper angle than the GTS (for more downforce) - this may explain the higher drag...
The fixed wing, while providing more downdorce, is a more efficient shape than the folding tail on the Carrera/GTS.
While Porsche would never reveal such a figure, it would be interesting to know the Cd of the Winged GT3 with the wing removed. I don't recommend it, but this might be the most slippery 4.0 version (with highest Vmax over 200mph).
