It’s NOT about the weight, as I’d said above the car’s character hardly matches this particular (luxurious) spec. Especially on a Porsche, a creme interior brings it more towards a GT than a track car. Obviously, there are people that appreciate this “clash” and others dislike it.

I think you could turn a Bentley GT into a super-sportscar and still be acceptable but not a Porsche GT into a Bentley-style without being OTP.

BTW the best GT2 RS scheme was the introduction car i.e. GT SIlver with champagne coloured  wheels and Black/red interior.. Very Porsche.

Interesting statement. To me, the only luxury car that looks convincing in a sporty outfit is the Bentley Conti/Flying Spur, isn’t it?

    Re: OFFICIAL: 911 GT2 RS (2017)

I cant really help you which one to choose, but can definitely tell you which one NOT to choose. That is 9ff. Although they certainly have some impressive performance numbers, workmanship quality and especially service if you ever have any issue is below any decency. Worst company ever. And I know that from my own experience. And there are many others with similar experience.

    Re: OFFICIAL: 911 GT2 RS (2017)

I happened across the live stream of the Fanatec GT2 series that was at Monza during the F1 weekend, it was sad to see there is only 1 Porsche GT2RS CS in the field. SRO created the whole series around that ONE car.

Between the GT2RS CS and the 935, Porsche made 207 eligible cars to be in it, ONE SINGLE car is in the field. ONE.

The rest? All got locked up somewhere hiding away from the public because of the perceived 'collectibility' of the 'rare' car.

To think Porsche had already screened buyers of the car. There is something seriously wrong with the screening.

Some are used in the cup series. At least in the Swiss one, in the open series, there was one being used. Not the 935.
that still leaves a lot of them hidden in garages.

Yeah that's Benno's car in the Swiss Cup series. Good friend of mine. Don't think there is one running in the German series however.

The only other race where more than one of those are running was the group delivery race at Spa.

Come to think of it, Porsche didn't actually sold out the 200 GT2RS CS before. There was a few left that they were shopping around with. All gone now.

    New record !

    edit2021-06-23T1310020200.png

The Porsche 911 GT2 RS with the Manthey Performance Kit is the fastest road-legal sports car on the Nürburgring Nordschleife

Development driver Lars Kern completed a lap of the 20.8-kilometre track in a 911 GT2 RS fitted with the Manthey Performance Kit in 6:43.300 minutes.

Meuspath. Porsche has set a new record on the Nürburgring Nordschleife in collaboration with Manthey-Racing GmbH. On Monday 14 June 2021, the 515 kW (700 hp) Porsche 911 GT2 RS with the Manthey Performance Kit lapped the 20.8-kilometre circuit in the presence of a notary in 6:43.300 minutes. This is the fastest ever lap of the track which has been nicknamed the Green Hell in a road-legal car.  The new performance kit was developed in close collaboration between the Porsche engineers in Weissach and the Nordschleife specialists at Manthey in Meuspath. The Porsche development driver Lars Kern was behind the wheel of the sports car.

Customers in Europe can order the Manthey Performance Kit now from Porsche Tequipment in Porsche centres. It will gradually be made available in other markets. In addition, owners of all Porsche 911 GT2 RS models that were fitted with the Manthey kit before 1 July 2021 can now recover their Porsche Approved Warranty. Their cars must first be inspected by a Porsche Centre.

Previous record for production vehicles beaten by 4.747 seconds
The plan was to beat the existing 6:48.047 road-car record. Kern achieved this with flying colours at the wheel of the 911 GT2 RS, beating the previous time by 4.747 seconds on road-legal Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tyres, at an average speed of 185.87 km/h. “Our GT customers often use their cars on circuit, such as on track days,” says Frank-Steffen Walliser, Vice President Model Lines 911/718. “The engineers at Manthey and Porsche have together developed a perfectly tuned package that allows the 911 GT2 RS to deliver even higher performance." Lars Kern broke the record despite high-summer conditions and a track temperature of 41 degrees. “The 911 GT2 RS sticks to the track like glue with the Manthey Performance Kit – you feel as if you’re in a racing car, especially on faster corners. It is truly breathtaking how the car puts its 700 PS down, and how incredibly well it brakes while always remaining easy to control,” says Kern.

Components precisely matched to one another
The Manthey Performance Kit from Porsche Tequipment consists of chassis, aerodynamic and brake components specially developed for the 911 GT2 RS. It also includes the Weissach Package's light magnesium alloy wheels. “The individual components of the Performance Kit are precisely matched to one another. They only become fully effective when they are all installed together. As a result, the kit is only available at the moment as a whole package. Individual offerings are currently being evaluated,” says Alexander Fabig, Vice President Individualisation and Classic at Porsche AG.

The aerodynamic components are the first things you notice. Additional flaps on the front spoiler increase downforce on the front axle in combination with a carbon underbody and additional air guide elements in the area of the front wheels. Downforce increases from 49 to 70 kilograms at 200 km/h, and on the rear axle from 93 to 200 kg at the same speed. This is made possible thanks to a new rear spoiler, a modified diffuser and aerodiscs on the rear wheels. “We are proud that Lars Kern was able to improve the lap time of the 911 GT2 RS in this way thanks to the Performance Kit, developed together with Porsche and optimised in many areas,” says Nicolas Raeder, Managing Director of Manthey-Racing GmbH.

The track-optimised coilover suspension benefits from the many years of motorsport experience at Porsche and Manthey. The front shock absorbers can be adjusted to three different settings and there are four settings on those at the rear. Special racing brake pads for the PCCB ceramic brake system reduce fade, while improving responsiveness and control precision. Steel-encased brake lines ensure even more direct pedal feedback. The magnesium wheels, 20-inch diameter at the front and 21-inches at the rear, offer an 11.4 kg weight saving and are available in Brilliant Silver, Black, Aurum, White Gold Metallic and Platinum.

An additional water tank for spray-cooling of the intercoolers increases overall volume by approximately nine litres, thereby increasing the time between refills. “With these newly developed parts, we have made an extremely good car even better. The 911 GT2 RS with Manthey Performance Kit is perfectly tailored to the needs of those customers who like to take their cars on track, especially the Nürburgring Nordschleife. This 6:43.330 time for the whole lap is equivalent to 6:38.835 for the old shorter variant, so makes a real statement,” explains Andreas Preuninger, Vice President GT Cars.

Since Manthey is mostly owned by Porsche, one can safely say Manthey is the AMG arm of Porsche.

Top 3 fastest cars in the world are a Porsche. 6 of the top 10, 10 of the top 15.

Wonder where a Plaid would rank

Suddenly it's a production car because the Manthey-kit has become Tequipment, but it still requires your car 90k EUR on top of the car, and for it to be dismantled in the workshop to have all the pieces fitted.

It was required to bring the Manthey stuff into the catalog. PAG was reluctant to improve anything for years on cars unless cosmetics and not for all cosmetic parts…

looking also how the new coming RS was also developed in closed relationship, these parts are a good addition into the catalog. Manthey is not Techart, it is rather a step up for Porsche to be honest - not a cheap one though but every second saved has an exponential cost.
