Pick your venues appropriately.  Taking seldom traveled roads usually means less enforcement and more entertainment factors, though not sure that the Ferrari V12 sings more expressively than a Lamborghini V12.

They have different tones. I prefer the prancing horse to the bull.

From the outside, I agree. From the inside I can't compare, but I certainly enjoy the induction noise on the 812 a lot more than the exhaust side.

Picking up speed is just so effortless.

As for the wipers, you do realize it's a Italian car right? At least they didn't fly off.

The world is a better place for having both V12s.

That reminded me of Nissan I had owned years and years ago, the wipers, not the picking up speed just so effortlessly part.  One has no idea why a group of engineers thought making a wiper arm attachment point out of soft aluminum was a suitable design solution.  That Nissan managed a rousing 80 horses from a 2.2 liter four cylinder motor.

I also like the sound of the Ferrari V12 better than the Lambo, but the Lambo V10 is pretty awesome sounding (may prefer it to their V12).

I still roll down my window in the pouring rain to hear them better.  And yes - the Lamborghini v10 sounds better than the Lamborghini v12. F12 still best sounding overall.

Depends, some sounded nice some not so much. The Harleys with open pipes are the worse.

Where I used to live, on one side is a 4 way stop sign, then it's a 1/2 mile of straight road to a traffic light. One side is a park and the other side is my house. Just about every night people would do their drag runs right in front of my house. From Ferraris, to diesel trucks to bikes. The road is marked as a park zone so 30km/hr speed limit. For the Ferraris that roar past, it's music to my ears. Lambos too. The Civics and Harleys however are a nuisance. Even in the day time, they speed on this road from the traffic light side to the stop sign. Not just kids, but soccer moms too.

Me and my neighbours petitioned to the city for some speed bumps. Got shot down as they said the road is a designated emergency route. All they can do is asked the police to drop by once in a while to write speeding tickets.

What do I do? I parked a couple of my cars out front, one on each side of the road to create a artificial chicane. Cutting the 2 lane road down to a single lane. Job done.

My 918 works best in my neighbourhood. I get out of the house on electric power, dead silence, I only switch on the engine after I left my neighbourhood. Smiley

Agree.  I would like a quiet mode so leaving for the gym at 5am doesn't wake up the neighbors.

(Nick--don't ever change.  I completely concur with half of what you say and couldn't disagree more with the other half.  I guess that makes you the most interesting person here.)

Anyone with real world experience from both the F12 and 812. Looks wise I seem to prefer the F12. I will try to get a test drive of both soon, but would be great to hear from previous / current owners wink

@ bluelines - F12 has the older style very fast and light steering and feels less stable at speed. 812 has later generation ESC versions but still spins its wheels in a straight line SmileySmiley. The steering is much less light and the car also has 4 wheel steer. There is something magical about the combination of this and the steering that makes the handling much more precise and "secure" than the F12. The car has no right to feel the way it does with a giant V12 in the front, but somehow it does. Maranello magic.  Later Superfasts have GPFs. The 812 is an all round better car to drive. Looks are , of course, for you to decide. Price will also be different.

    Re: Ferrari 812 Superfast

F12 is more "twitchy" to drive - but actually adds to the pleasure on normal roads. Took us a while to understand that this is a likeable challenge these days. Sound of both is reason enough to buy them ! Also like the scoop on the hood better than the 812's hood !

The closer gear ratios also make the 812 more fun to drive + RWS.

And yet, if we're talking 'fun to drive', give me any GT3 above an 812 any day.

There's obviously other terrains where it excels over any Porsche, but driving plain and simple, Porsche GT's reign supreme.

That's possible indeed! I recall the dealer who had it for sale had difficulties selling it because images of it on the Nordschleife kept circulating. Smiley

So sorry about your Ferrari experience, I really love the 812 (and the F12) and was always thinking about getting one if I can afford it but now, I don't know... Smiley

I don't understand how Ferrari wasn't able to fix this, unbelievable.

I had once an issue with my 996 (one of the first Carrera from my Munich Porsche dealership) and the car "opened" so many doors at Porsche because of it's quality issues (my PCM system alone was switched 3x) and it even spent over a week in Weissach to find a solution (and they did!!!). This was the reason why I never gave up on Porsche for so many years...

I feel as if Ferrari left you stranded and this is not how they should treat a customer, no matter if the car was brand-new or not. What a shame. Smiley
