    Time Schedule - 997 C4(S), 997 Turbo, 997 GT3

Right now it seems that the following time schedule is accurate:

    997 Carrera 4: MY 2006 - summer 2005.
    997 GT3: MY 2007 - spring 2006.
    997 Turbo: MY 2007 - late spring/summer 2006.

    Power figures:
    997 Carrera 4: 355 HP (not likely: 380 HP).
    997 GT3: 400 HP (not likely: 415 HP).
997 Turbo: 490 HP (not likely: 450 HP).

All above information is based on our latest UNOFFICIAL information and rumours, it has NOT been confirmed by Porsche. We posted the "not likely" power figures for the 997 Turbo because some rumours indicated these figures and we wanted to make sure that you know about them.

The dates indicate the time when first customer cars are delivered and/or first dealer demo cars arrive. The official press announcements for these models will be earlier. We also heard the rumour that Porsche plans something very special for the 997 Turbo presentation in Spain or Portugal around march 2006.

    Re: Time Schedule - 997 C4S, 997 Turbo, 997 GT3

    Thanks RC!

    ciao

    Re: Time Schedule - 997 C4S, 997 Turbo, 997 GT3

    Now Dario can finally sleep.......maybe!

    Ooooooooook!

997 C4/C4S and the wide body controversy

RC, can you clarify the wide body argument on the C4/S and will they both be wide body or only one of them, or neither of them?

    Re: Time Schedule - 997 C4S, 997 Turbo, 997 GT3

RC, what are latest rumors on whether sequential transmission will be offered @launch of 997TTS? And will there be both a 997TT and 997TTS at launch time....w/perhaps different power figs? Thx.

    Re: Time Schedule - 997 C4S, 997 Turbo, 997 GT3

...and what are latest information about 380Hp powerkit for 997S?

which market are those predictions for...? USA? EURO?

    Re: Time Schedule - 997 C4S, 997 Turbo, 997 GT3

    Thanks RC

I'm sure I speak for the many enthusiasts here who are very grateful for all the early information you provide, the road tests etc. I plan to buy my first Porsche some day (hopefully sooner rather than later!) and what I have learned on this website has been priceless.

Can you say when the first MY 2006 997S will be available for factory delivery?

    Re: Time Schedule - 997 C4S, 997 Turbo, 997 GT3

    RC,
I am new here, really like your information thanks.
I have 2003 tt 19's,springs,tubi,etc. on the list for 997 tt.
should I buy new 997 tt or go for the ecu upgrade and keep my car which I like very much? any chance the 997 tt will be lighter than the 996 tt?

    Re: Time Schedule - 997 C4S, 997 Turbo, 997 GT3

    RC: I don't think we'll see a 997 4S, only a C4 and that will be a wide body version.

    Just my 2c.

I don't care how it is called, C4 or C4S. It will be a widebody. But I doubt that Porsche easily gives away the C4S name...

    Re: Time Schedule - 997 C4S, 997 Turbo, 997 GT3

    when will we know???

    Re: Time Schedule - 997 C4S, 997 Turbo, 997 GT3

my heart stopped .....i was about to caller my dealer

    Re: Time Schedule - 997 C4S, 997 Turbo, 997 GT3

Given this schedule. What is the latest thinking around when the 998 or a refreshed 997 will be available? Is there plans to around a mid-cycle 997 or will porsche go directly to the next 911 design?

    Re: Time Schedule - 997 C4S, 997 Turbo, 997 GT3

what r u talking about...the 997 was just released a year ago...it will be around atleast 4 years...

    Re: Time Schedule - 997 C4S, 997 Turbo, 997 GT3

a refreshed 996 came out 3 years after the initial launch, and the 993 was only in production for 3 years 95 - 98. i was wondering if anyone had heard any plans for a mid-cycle refresh or will the 997 have a short cycle with the 998 being released in a few years.

one of the reason i was asking is it seems porsche is holding back on the HPs so it leads me to believe they are saving something for a mid-cycle update.

    Re: Time Schedule - 997 C4S, 997 Turbo, 997 GT3

well if you think in this wasy you ll spend your life waiting!!!

Buy something work hard and then buy again something better!

    Thats life after all

    That's four years for the 993 - it's 95-98 inclusive

    Re: Time Schedule - 997 C4S, 997 Turbo, 997 GT3

Yea I guess it was 3 1/2 years since the 996 was introduced in the spring as an 99 model. Anyway I have no plans on waiting. I already have a 996 and an 03 cup car that I race in pca, etc. I was just asking a simple question since this thread was about what future models.

I would upgrade now to the 997s if the power kit was available. Not enough difference between my current car and the 997s.

    Re: Time Schedule - 997 C4S, 997 Turbo, 997 GT3

    who knows...its anybodys guess...

Actually the 996 came out in 1998 as a '99 model. The first cabs for example arrived in the USA in July 1998. With the 997 cabs showing up in April 2005, the 996 existed for almost 7 years.

997 is still a baby.... let it grow :-)

    Re: Time Schedule - 997 C4S, 997 Turbo, 997 GT3

Has anyone an idea if the C4 and C4S will be scheduled as coupé and cabrio at the same time?

    Re: Time Schedule - 997 C4S, 997 Turbo, 997 GT3

The latest rumour indicates that the C4 (not C4 S) will be a widebody car and that a possible C4S comes later and probably with a mild power increase, maybe with the powerkit engine.
So the planning should look like this:
Carrera 4 with 355 HP (widebody)
    Carrera 4 S with 380 HP (widebody).

This autumn, the Carrera 4 is expected with a wide body and 355 HP. Again: this is not official information, just a rumour.

    Re: Time Schedule - 997 C4S, 997 Turbo, 997 GT3

Maybe a C4S but the C4 a widebody also? I really hope not. At least not a widebody as we know it, maybe just a wider rear fender desing and nothing else, otherwise whats the point of making the C4 a widebody? ... widebodies are heavier than an equivalent narrowbody and with no advantages in the Carrera, its just adding more weight and drag for looks ... doesn't sound very "Porschelike" to me

If the standard C4 is directly a Turbo-look widebody then I will be really dissapointed cause thats a sign of what road the company is wanting to follow in the future But like I said, maybe its just a wider rear fender on a narrowbody carrera making it wider and not TT trackwidth/chasis/suspensions/fascia
