    My new 911S

    Hi everyone,

I picked up the car last Saturday morning. It's truely an amazing car. Can't believe I'm a Porshce owner now. I know there are many cars out there that may have more performance, more comfortable and more bang for the bucks, but as for the Porsche driving experience, their slogan is perfect - "No Substitute".

I really haven't gotten the chance to drive that much yet becuase of family stuff and it also snowed yesterday. The car is great, but the only one concern I have is the full leather. I think I should have just ordered the regular leather. Now, I'm worried that the leather will get scratched easily. Actually, there is a tiny scratch on the glove box door which kinda annoys me. I didn't notice it when I picked up the car. I'm going to see if they can replace it.

    My options:
    Artic Silver
    full black leather
    Bose
    heated adaptive Sport Seats
    dimming mirrors
    mats
    color crest
    sports chrono

Congratulations and enjoy... Roll on the 1st March, when I will also enjoy the Porsche experience

    it's not a 911S.

yeah! Have a ball! Nice car, call it a 123Z even!!!

I think calling it a 911S is "incorrect." Not that I give a **** but if you want to be fussy, it is properly called a 997S, or Carerra S.

Not sure but it makes sense because they stopped making a 911S back in early 70s I think.

    CONGRATULATIONS SIR!

    yeah, I know...

Actually Porsche calls them the 911 Carerra and 911 Carrera S in their brochures. So, you are both partially right.

How do they compare? The HP is pretty close. (333 vs. 355). Does the torque make a big difference?

    Re: My new 911S

    The M3 was 333HP and the 997 is 325HP, torque numbers are pretty close. I think the 997 has better gearing and a "stiffer" drivetrain. M3 @ 80 MPH 3500 RPM, 997 @ 80 MPH 3100 RPM.

    Re: My new 911S

    19th Hole,

I think I met you at Nashua Porsche on Tuesday? Your car was still under-wraps and looks much better all cleaned up. All you need is a set of clear side markers. Good luck and use it well. BTW, after seeing the GT Silver Boxster, I ended up ordering a 997 Cab in this color with stone roof and interior.

    Eric
