Is this really true?
Well, almost
You can more or less double the price of a car in Germany and get the Norwegian price, because of the insane taxes.
We have import tax on cars, based on weight, engine size, and horsepower. For every hp over 170 hp, we pay 200 USD pr hp in tax. So a RS4 would have more than 50.000 USD just in hp tax - go figure!
Here are a few examples:
997 Carrera S: 160.000 Euro/220.000 USD
Carrera GT: 640.000 Euro/870.000 USD
Audi RS4, estimate: 180.000 Euro/240.000 USD
How much is the CGT in Germany?

Our only comfort is that Denmark and Singapore have even higher prices than us
But there's hope, a new EU ruling says that carprices have to be the same all over Europe, and we have to follow that as a member of the EEC (not a full EU member). So within 10 years we should have "normal" carprices as well.
The cars worst off by these taxes are american cars because of their weight, engine size and mucho hp. So a Corvette costs as much as a 997 Carrera S in Norway! (No wonder they don't sell any)

Temm, you are right at least with regards to the Danish taxes. Here are some of the reasons why I moved to Paris - Danish list prices, and those you do not get any discount on, well if you are lucky euro 1000-2000, simply the dealers does not have much profit to play with.
997 Carrera S: 248.000 Euro/325.000 USD
Carrera GT: 1.390.000 Euro/1.820.000 USD
Audi S4..!!, old version: 148.000 Euro/194.000 USD
Add to that you for a 997S easily reach Euro 30,000 when it comes to extras....they are sick these politicians
