Porsche considered the 4.0L engine in the GT3R as a version 2.0 engine, the version 2.5 will be the one going into the next GT3, major difference compared with the version 1 which is in the .1GT3 and version 1.5 in the RS and R is that it has a completely different oiling system.

So next GT3 is the one to get Smiley The "last" NA engine and it is not built from papier-mâché like the one in the 991.1.

I had been saying that since March Smiley

You still feel pretty confident that Manual gearbox will be on the option sheet?  Some have suggested they might be backing away from those plans...

So where does the 991.2GT3RS fit in? Will there be one and if so will it be NA or turbo?

Some are saying that the RS used to homologate the race car will be the GT2 RS for the first time (as the race car is going turbo).  If that happens, the usual GT3 RS is not part of the lineup.  But maybe there will be a special limited car like the 997 RS 4.0 (possibly RS 4.2) that will be offered near the end of production?

If true, that would be bad news for non-918 owners if they all snap them all up like the 911R...

True, but they only made 500 GT2RS and 600 RS 4.0 for the world in the 997 series...

    I think they'll make a bunch of GT3's...

I would also think that they are going to flood the market with the next GT3, why wouldn't they? I am also convinced that slowly the GT cars will become a whole lineup of cars with many variants, the "sport" line, vs the regular "confort" line the normal 991s are.

Very possible. I tried to find out if the GT4 will be the last one of it's kind but I cannot get a definite answer.

A few months ago, I heard a rumor about a facelifted 400 hp GT4 but lately, nothing.

As you all know I want a 991.2GT3RS. While at the dealership today, the sales manager who had just returned from a Porsche meeting indicated that I would get my RS sooner than two years from now. I believe US dealers will be getting allocations of the .2GT3's and RS's as early as next summer if not sooner. He also mentioned manual would be available which we all knew.

I hope the RS also comes in PDK-S. If not, it would be a a deal breaker for me.cheeky

Well no. I know the GT3 will have the manual option, but from what I gathered the RS won't.

Porsche had maintained that their RS cars and above are for the absolute fastest track times, and a PDK is the only way to go for that, or at least a paddle shifted manual. The only cars above the RS are their race cars and track toy GT4CS, which switched over from manual to PDK. I haven't seen AP or Walliser indicate other-wise regarding their mission for the RS cars.

    Re: 991.2 GT3 Thread Closed

Because the RS is coming sooner, I had to change my method of buying the Targa I ordered which I should have in about two weeks or so. California sales tax is 8% which amounts to $11,500 for my car. To avoid paying the full tax On the Targa I decided to lease the car something I rarely do.

Assuming I get an early allocation, I could turn my Targa in after a year or so, have a good idea what my residual will and have gap protection should I be involved in an accident. Financially this makes sense.

Btw, I was told both cars will be NA and 4 liter. Which raises the question, how will the differentiate the RS form the GT3?

And Whoop stated maybe only PDK only for the RS. Thats a funny mix if factual.

Would it simply be a HP jump for the RS,,?..

    Re: 991.2 GT3 Thread Closed

RS will likely get the Turbo's wider body, bigger wing and more (adjustable) aero goodies in general - same as with 991.1.

Then the side air intakes with their "ram-air" effect and a different intake system, better cooling, etc. will result in slightly more power. Maybe some more engine tweaks like a higher compression ratio.

And hopefully proper weight saving measurements
