Hi, I'm mad on the 997 and have been lurking for a long while. Am particularly interested in this thread.
I'm convinced that this is a widebody. The place to look is the rear light cluster - they're different. The widebody has a "flatter" cluster. the narrow body has a "curvier" cluster. It is necessarily less "curved" by virtue of its increased width. It looks awesome !!

That's just because of the different angles of each photo. Look at the yellow 997s on page2 of this thread and the light cluster is also flat.

If it is a wide body 997 then a couple of things make me curious.
The wide body would surely need a new rear bumper to fit properly. If that's the case why not design it in such a way that from behind it's obviously a wide body and clearly a different car, without debate we're having here. (No obvious marketing value in making it look the same.) If you look at the 996 C4S it uses the TT rear bumper and th red strip to differentiate it from the rest.
Also would you not think they might want to put the red trim strip across the back of the car in the way they did for the C4S to further differentiate it? Yet it appears to use the same engine compartment cover and spoiler.
I'm still not convinced it's a wide body...
