    GT3 - exhaust question

    I am currently thinking about making my 2003 GT3 a bit "noisier" without changing the overall character of the beautiful engine/exhaust sound. Have seen the Europipe in this forum, but I think that is a bit too much. My dealer (Germany) suggests Cargraphic exhausts or simply "bypassing" the standard exhaust. Another tip was to exchange the standard katalyst by a sport catalyst, the air cleaner by a sport air cleaner and attaching the GT3 RS air collector to the rear wing (all together c. +20-30 BHP). Any suggestions or comments?

    Hey,
    Start by using the BMC airfilter/cleaner, and the "ap-car-design" fresh air intake system. Similar to the RS, but little bit bigger. Take a look at: www.ap-car-design.de

    Then you get sound, power, and speed!

    i'm from germany and i've got a cargraphic installed to my RS at my porsche dealer -- with TÜV certification. it's not really louder on idle and at low revs but at high revs it's like a TIE fighter passing by -- screaming loud and mechanical sounding, just like a GT3 should sound. but it's not THAT different from the standard exhaust, so i'm not sure it was really worth the money.

    Hi zzboba, do you mind letting me know how much you've paid and how much additional horsepower / torque this exhaust adds?

    not at all

    i'm not really an exhaust specialist, but as far as i know, the cargraphic GT3 exhaust is available in 2 specs, the full kit für around EUR 8000-9000 which adds approx 20 HP (claimed) and the "sound only" kit which adds no power but sounds better. i decided for this one. price incl VAT and installation was approx EUR 4500.

    gt3tom is right the gt3 cup filter and that air intake seems great i'm gonna try it out.
    Until now i've got the bmc gt3 cup filter (ordered at porsche motorsport), and it sounds great, huge sound difference beginning at 6000rpm! The sound with the stock filter is really booooring.....(Gt3 my 2000)
    I think for a try out it's a bargain for around 250eur. If you don't like it you still can change back and put another xhaust on it:)

    gt3tom do you have that stuff from ap-car design fitted on your gt3? Wanted to know if your satisfied with it. Because i've got it too and the sound now is worse than before with only the gt3 cup filter fitted. Though the power output is better than before.

    Europipe is good quality, but Fabspeed still make the best. With Fabspeed its a true free-flow design no baffel plates or chambers to make it quieter just very thick guage stainless steel, to go with that I will also install fabspeed manifolds. it will be very hard to find a company that has quality as good as fabspeed, all ther pipes are made from 1 piece and wherever there are any welds its in another league. And the collectors on the manifolds look like they come straight off a premium series race car.

    The AP design site shows a GT3 with the Direct ram air thing doing 348km/h! Is this credible? No other mods? I find it difficult to believe

    I am happy with the performance of my 04 GT3, but would like to improve the engine sound. I am thinking of intalling Fabspeed mufflers and a different intake filter. Any suggestions?

    Hand-made exhaust pipe provided 411 HP , 415 Nw/m, with katalyst, new Motronic, sport air cleaner and a very nice sound. Absolut legal.

    hey waterlizard,

    you wrote about the fabspeed stuff, on their site about the gt3 there is a: GT3 HIGH PERFORMANCE AIR INTAKE which will come out end of february they told, i would wait for that what it's meant to be .

    That exhaust on the pictures above seems to be a manthey one. I think they use europipe exhausts.

    About the ap-car stuff and 348 kmh is probably possible with the whole kit, air ram intake, new exhaust, new motronic and new air filter. As far as i know the real speed would be around 320 kmh.
