4s on mountain pass, Passo del Bernina

I was on holiday last week and did some photos from my girlfriends 993 4s. I was wondering how this car would drive on snow and decided to climb some mountain tracks...
the 993 is 8 years old, but I could drive faster on snow and ice than an ml55 also with the 265 on the rear axle...

    here is the first picture:

    second...

Re: 4s on mountain pass, Passo del Bernina

third...(all pictures made with sonyericsson s700)

Re: 4s on mountain pass, Passo del Bernina

After many years still the most beautiful car .

Re: 4s on mountain pass, Passo del Bernina

Very beatiful car, and not sure I took the right decission when I turned down a very nice 993S and bought my BoxsterS instead....

Re: 4s on mountain pass, Passo del Bernina

    wow, thats excellent.

Re: 4s on mountain pass, Passo del Bernina

    I wish my girlfriend had a 9934S!!

    Nice pics!!!

Re: 4s on mountain pass, Passo del Bernina

    You're not alone

Re: 4s on mountain pass, Passo del Bernina

    Beautiful car!!!!

Re: 4s on mountain pass, Passo del Bernina

    Superb pics man!
    Thanks a lot!
The 993 4S is still so beautiful after all these years, the most beautiful of the 993 range IMHO.

Re: 4s on mountain pass, Passo del Bernina

    Awesome pics..

Re: 4s on mountain pass, Passo del Bernina

    another one...

Re: 4s on mountain pass, Passo del Bernina

and the last picture. you can see how wide the tires are...

I know that you will have better grip with a thinner tyre perhaps a 17' inch rim and a 225 tire...

But the 18' inch technology rim looks so nice, that you could only drive with that wheel!!

Re: 4s on mountain pass, Passo del Bernina

Great pics! and such a beautifull car!

Re: 4s on mountain pass, Passo del Bernina

The more you see the 993, the better it looks! I hope you can take some more pics of that car soon... you should realize that people really LOVE that car!

Micheal ....same place ..2 years ago ....

Bernina pass is wonderful .......like the climb "Diavolezza" 2 km later : without winter tires it's a suicide!

    Alex,

tell us about your girlfriend's cars!

Michael, I thought it was a friend of yours who owned the Porsche! So she let's you drive it regularly?

Maybe I missed it but were you going on summer or winter tires?

Indeed the 993 should be the car I am intending to buy - hands down!

Re: 4s on mountain pass, Passo del Bernina

    Hello Ferdie,

I think you mixed something up...

I have different friends with different cars. One friend of mine has got an 996gt3 mkII another a white 996 gt3 mkII and anotherone a silver Speedster 964. But this car ist my girlfriends 993 4s. I drive a lot with it but only together with her on holiday or on weekends.

but I love it and I gave her the idea...

    greets michael

P.s: yes, we installed wintertyres on it...

Re: 4s on mountain pass, Passo del Bernina

Great pics Nice upgrade to have fitted the 2S grill on the 4S .

Strangely, everytime I see this model I feel that in some way, esthetically, current 911's have lost some of their pedigree . Technology-wise of course, it's a different story .

Re: 4s on mountain pass, Passo del Bernina

    Great pix!

I love to see porsches being used in other than perfect summer conditions. I try to use mine as much as possible and love slippery, snow-covered roads!
Newer models may be better suited for winter use (heating, etc..), but 993 is hard to beat for looks and caracter!

    Live well - drive hard!

Re: 4s on mountain pass, Passo del Bernina

I couldn't agree with you more!

Re: 4s on mountain pass, Passo del Bernina

I love the slippery roads too, because you can slide without putting extreme stress on your car. We had extremely slippery conditions in the netherlands too, and it was great. I tried my car on an empty parking lot to play a little. BUT on the way home I lost control on a roundabout... nothing happened, but my ego was damaged... Slippery is always treacherous...

Re: 4s on mountain pass, Passo del Bernina

My baby is in storage for the winter, but when ever I get the chance I always make sure to put my VW sideways in an empty parking lot or somwhere where I know if I lose it I am not in trouble. Plus its also good training for when you need to regain control. I love winter driving, and this year with all the snow it has been great!
