    PCM with Rear View Camera ---- Question

    Hey guys, i wonder is that possible to connect a reverse Rear View camera with PCM system. and what is that AV function for? whenever u press it, it just showing "AV not available" at least, i want to make it work for something... any of you thought of this?

    Have any of us thought of this? Hmmm ... maybe one or two have.

    I'm sure you can make the rear view camera work. Others have done it. You can do a retrofit through the dealer, which will cost a ton of money, or you can do a custom aftermarket install, like jdrive did, which will also cost a ton of money.

    Porsche's PCM system is not easily modified. If you really have to have the rear view camera, your cheapest option may be to trade in your Cayenne and get a new model with that option already installed.

    Moni at Nav-TV (http://www.nav-tv.com/index02.htm) can help you. Only issue with turning your nav screen into a backup cam is there is no way to have it auto-select to that screen when shifting to reverse. Instead, you would have to hit a button manually. On the other hand, if you have a CT then you are going to like another solution much better.... Moni can program your center cluster screen (where the display info is) to display a rear cam (or anything else from a video source), AND, this screen CAN be programmed to swap to the reverse cam when you shift to R. This is the way I have it. The cluster screen is easily as high quality (subjectively I think it's better) than the nav screen, and frankly it's a slightly better place to look at..... Only other thing you need is a rear cam! Make sure to get a reverse image version......

    FYI I have zero interest in Nav-TV; just a satisfied customer.

    thanx alot jdrive.... that really helps.. but i got a CS, its actually ok for me for press a button when i need it. but i wonder whats the cost for this mod. thanx again

    My PCM is CD-based. DVD unit didn't come out until long after I purchased my CT.

    As for price, You have to factor in local install time, but I would guess -- including wiring the cam -- maybe $1,200.
