    Re: Huracán EVO STO

Perhaps many are reading too much into that image with the Panta fuel since it is a FIA approved fuel for many racing events. https://www.fia.com/panta  The V10 in the Evo STO is normally aspirated so any perceived power gains are just that, perceived, if any.

It is possible to make a bit more power in an NA motor with high octane race fuel by advancing the ignition timing with a laptop (assuming that raising the compression is too much work)...

Of course but the gains do remain negligible and usually with trade offs with other performance parameters.  Is that enough of a gain to influence a record setting trial?  That’s difficult to determine sitting in an armchair thousands of miles away.  However, central to any discussion, is is there a certain specification on fuels used by record attempt cars at this track?

I don't know what the specific rules are, but I would suggest that the car should not be making more power than it would with the fuel that is recommended by the manufacturer to its clients.

    Re: Huracán EVO STO

+1 That's kind of the whole point of these street car ring lap times for the press, to show how these production cars perform on the ring, for whatever that is worth, but the moment you start modifying things that customer cars won't be using (except safety modifications to protect the driver) the more pointless and misleading it becomes, and raises the question of what other things they have modified...

    Re: Huracán EVO STO

With the apparent controversies of the Ring lap set with the Performante, you would think Lambo would be super careful not to allow even the appearance of something shady going on this time...

they simply don't care as customers are still dreaming about the Performante's lap without doubting 1s about it smiley we have one of them here. 100% convinced.

Much speculation posted here without support on the specifications of the fuel.  Someone here should know the answer to what is the fuel specification on a street car record attempt at the ‘Ring.

No way it’s as fast as a Performante smiley

Lamborghini stays within the rules and everything is just speculation and we all know why… 👀

Here is a pic from my latest STO encounter, more to come, especially impressions.

There was nothing shady about the Performante lap times, whoever had the chance to encounter a good driver in one on the track knows what I am talking about. One YouTuber started the crap because the Lambo video was edited and we all know that it never went away. Lambo learned from this with the SVJ.

The fuel is approved and most records are done with high octane fuel. It is very unlikely that the fuel and any ECU mapping mods would add substantial power to the V10 engine, the power of 640 is basically the “end” of the possible power output.

Funny that nobody questions Porsche with their turbo charged engines when we all know that Porsche, in the past, seems to have used a dyno detection mode in their ECU software. 👀

I do not know how fast the STO will be but I have the new PZero PCZ4 L1 on my Performante now and all I can say WOW, what a grip, incl. side grip (side walls feel stiffer). These Lambos are crazy fast, just check out some YouTube videos on the Nordschleife.

That is supposedly going to be one of the 992 GT3 tires - sounds promising

Seems like Robert Mitchell has something to say about the STO smiley

I can't find his IG post but I've seen it in this video at 6:20 -  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hy5B7xJn24s

I'm curious to see what are the "6 things" on that pic.

Still speculative without knowing what type of testing Lamborghini was doing there.

Whatever they were up to, it’s good for Lamborghini that this video is out before they announce anything, Afterward would be worse.

He owns Apex Nürburgring Taxi but does that given supernatural knowledge on why Lamborghini was at the track?  One can think of several reasons including performance benchmarking for future production models.

    Re: Huracán EVO STO

Went you rent the Nürburgring and their timing services for the purpose of setting an official lap, there is an entirely new process in the last year to certify its authenticity.

Companies do not bother with this to internally benchmark technologies.

Let’s ask this question, with all the outside surveillance of Internet pundits, what incentive and motivation does Lamborghini have to rig a record setting run?

I agree that it would be very stupid (and I am not accusing anyone), but the motivation and incentive would be pretty easy to understand.

Looking forward to learning more about this - I assume everything will eventually be known (and hopefully a credible honest explanation will be shared).

Do you really think Lamborghini needs to post Nürburgring records to sell its vehicles?  I can, however, see Lamborghini comparing its STO lap time to that of a Lamborghini race car as well as using that timing information as benchmarks in the new electrified world.

I don’t think Lamborghini needs lap times Less than the other companies that use lap time to assist their marketing efforts.

    Re: Huracán EVO STO

Fact is we have seen time and time again over the years different car companies using questionable tactics and mods to gain a better lap time for marketing purposes, it shouldn't catch anyone here by surprise. Not saying Lamborghini is doing it in this particular case, just that it is very much possible. Anyone with a minimum experience with manufacturer Nring laptimes, should now to take them with a grain of salt to put it lightly.

This is one of the reasons for the much more rigorous procedures employed by the Nürburgring in certifying lap times now (in 2021)
