    Re: Ferrari 812 Superfast

Beautiful and always expected, since the era of Audi ownership, for Lamborghini to enter this particular market niche.  With this morning's Lamborghini announcement of its Direzione Cor Tauri roadmap the only prospect is for Lamborghini to launch, in a few years, an EV GT with four seats.  Seems like a lost opportunity but one would imagine that Lamborghini senior management was never able to develop an economic viable business case for a car to rival the 812.

    Re: Ferrari 812 Superfast

Every time you post pics I’m in awe of how cool this thing is. Also strangely I’ve seen a lot of content where dark green 812s are featured. Seems that it is a more popular color than it was during the F12 era. Frank did you apply ppf after the paint treatment or do you plan to?

    Re: Ferrari 812 Superfast

Very special car Frank, always looks beautiful in your picskiss

    Very verde!

    Re: Ferrari 812 Superfast

Did a quick 2k km tour to Normandy with the 812 to join friends there over the weekend. The car proved hilarious in its speed on the autoroute (unfortunately less hilarious for the gendarmerie later on) but surprisingly less pleasant over long distance than a GT3. Suspension is equally hard (more or less) but the racing seats or much less comfortable as the ones Porsche uses. I'm sure I'm getting old, but I don't understand how something so crucial is so often overlooked.

Aside from that, very pleasant car to eat kilometers and equally pleasant on the B-roads upon arrival. Where it was less pleasant was on the way back where I had torrential rain and cold temperatures over 1000km. You really have to be awake in that thing in such conditions, again much more so in less hyperactive Porsches. Luckily my last stretch of the day was dry, and I could stretch its legs over the last 30km, only to meet the gendarmes on the same stretch. Ciao license, and as I was alone in the car on the way back, I had to have to car transported back to Switzerland today. mail

You are indeed well acquainted with law enforcement angry. Does your Superfast have the standard seats = uncomfortable, or the sports ones which I have found are always much more comfortable?

    Re: Ferrari 812 Superfast

    Oh god, sorry to hear...

Had a BMW M8 convertible loaner for a month, drove without shoes to prevent speeding.

It's becoming a bit of a habit unfortunately, yes. That said, it was nothing too extreme, just bad timing when accelerating through a few gears after fueling. There was a mobile speed trap right after the fuel station. Smiley

It has the 'racing buckets', these carbon backed ones. The other seats are not an option anyway, need the additional headroom the lower seated buckets offer.

@Joost: Car is not impounded, I was just not allowed to drive it myself in France. The hotel was kind enough to arrange a driver to bring car and myself back to CH. Coincidentally that guy is a Nürburgring regular so we had a good time together in the car.

So I see the the traits from the F12 have stayed with the 812.

It's even more hilarious to see that full tank of petrol disappeared in no time at speed Smiley You can swear you just filled her up not 10 mins ago and it's half gone.

It’s getting harder to justify these cars on a public road. I’ve appealed my $1500 dollar fine. Waiting for the court to rule. I’m not optimistic. Local governments need the revenue.surprise

In Europe, are you allowed to have a radar/laser detector in your car? If so, it might be a good idea to have one.

Hmm, the attraction would be the wonderful sounding V12 singing. There is no substitute. Those V12 coupes from Ferrari have no equals.

They are fast. They are comfortable. They are powerful. They can sing, even when not at speed.

Because of the power, the rear loves to step out, but on the flip side, the car is soooooo balanced, it's easy to catch and play with.

Pick your venues appropriately.  Taking seldom traveled roads usually means less enforcement and more entertainment factors, though not sure that the Ferrari V12 sings more expressively than a Lamborghini V12.

They have different tones. I prefer the prancing horse to the bull.
