That car is not quite decided. .2GT3 is Geneva 2017, .2GT2RS is Frankfurt 2017, where can they launch such a car? Geneva 2018? Is it right that the .2GT3RS comes after the .2GT2RS? Wouldn't that be a 'letdown'

After seeing the R in the flesh and seeing how much better it looks than the GT3 and RS, I would hope Porsche really offers the option to delete it on the GT3, along with rear seats and chop the roof (Dream on)...

The R in white with the red stripes is simply the best 911 post 993 models.

There are rumors of a Speedster that is very close to an R without the roof.  Does that interest you (even if manual gearbox)?

Surely it will appeal to many but personally no. It would need to have PDK-S, GT3 chassis, GT3 engine, amazing sound, rear seats and no roof and look like as good a R. It would need to be tuned for the road but good enough to track occasionally. Well optioned it could be priced close to $200k. Porsche needs to make a car that is an event every time you take it out with the family, the same way tthe Ferrari California or 612/FF is, something beautiful and exclusive. Around here and in Miami you see dull colors 991 very often and they don't feel that special. As far as two seaters I would rather take out my gorgeous, unique, fabulous sounding AM V8 roadster than any variant of 991 considering today's road limitations.

    Re: 991.2 GT3 Thread Closed

If such a car exists, it will be manual. And 2 seater. And limited.

Yeah, I think that is what I expect (Model Year 2019 for 992).  Each generation is designed to last 7 years (4 years and then 3 years of facelift).

The difference would be that the GT2RS will be limited much more expensive while the RS unlimited and priced more reasonably.? Granted, I am grasping at straws.Smiley

Well not incorrect in your assessment.

GT3RS should not be number limited. More like production capacity limited.

Too bad... Less $$ for Porsche, more for Ferrari... Maybe I should look into swapping my 09 California for a N/A 2013 or 2014 California 30.

I prefer the limited by production because you can always squeeze out a production slot.

The limits by definition is difficult to get because many people need to be satisfied and if you have only a precisely limited number of cars...well... Smiley

I'm not saying suspension tuning can't contribute a great deal in making cars faster/better, of course it can. I was just saying, you're only stating the obvious...

Of course it will be faster than its predecessor, I don't need "a P-source" to realize that, of course it will be partly due to suspension finetuning, etc... If you want to share "inside info", share something tangible instead of bragging about having sources inside Porsche. Smiley

I suspect that KresoF1 did share some tangible information, but he did it a little cryptically and you overlooked it. He wrote:
"There is a great potential in further fine tuning of the PASM. Faster hardware/software will help even further. Progress..."

I took this to mean that the PASM system will use a faster ECU processor, which will speed up its response times and that this has been found to open up great potential for improved tuning of the dampers.  Smiley

Guys, I have the latest state of the art PASM type system on my 7GT2, Tractive DDA dampers which react to command 17 X faster than standard PASM coupled with the DSC computer, this fully adaptive suspension is incredible, with full solid joints everywhere and PS Cup 2s it gives the ride of a BMW M3 with incredible responsiveness when it's play time. My ring times have reduced by 12s thanks to this damper set up....

I think Kreso referred to improved hardware and software, faster, more sophisticated and so on and this is true.

Basically, I think that in the not so far future, Porsche could build a car with a PASM/PDCC so advanced that it would annihilate any conventional chassis setup and leave it in the dust.

Of course many could say now that this would take out the fun out of (track) driving and they could be right but these cars will be insanely fast.

Why would a better suspension take the fun out of driving?  Would it have more PSM type features or just improved damper systems?  Can't see any less fun in the latter...

A faster reacting suspension means better body roll/load management, keeping the Cg of the car in the ideal spot and that translates to better braking and faster cornering.

Suspensions are a big deal, no doubt.  I remember a guy in an aircooled 911 replaced the stock suspension with top level Motons that were tuned by a race team with expertise in this area.  Laptime improved by 6 sec on 2 minute lap!

    Re: 991.2 GT3 Thread Closed

Just back from a track day arranged by a couple of Porsche dealerships here I Sweden. If we skip my "could be" loooong review of a track day starting with 1,5 dm snow on the ground, but ending up with a fairly dry and quit good track. (Not easy to be a trackoholic in Sweden....) and tell you about the roumurs here in Sweden  right know.

Yes, the GT2 RS will be very hard to get, but the 991.2 GT3 RS will be even harder to get your hands on. This mainly due to the fact that the backlog of people signing up for the .1 RS but not getting one is looooong....laugh But since the talk with the Porsche dealer regarding this fact is quit open, I would like to believe that there IS going a 991.2 GT3 RS.

And they will be launched quit close to each other.

And please, this information is from dealers, NOT Porsche AG, so.... yescheeky

I, myself, is not getting any younger, so I will aim for both (and of course move my ass from this dark cold place that's not suited for driving any car without spikes .....smiley)

    Re: 991.2 GT3 Thread Closed

That is my concern. Many of those on the list for the RS.1 and didn't get one are now on the list for RS.2. I believe close to 70 at my dealer. However, dealers look at many factors in decided who gets one claiming the list isn't a priority list.

Dealers will be looking at the number of cars purchased from them, whether those cars were serviced at the dealership and to what extent are these cars being flipped. There are other factors but these will be upmost on the minds of the decision makers.

PDK removes an important contribution from the driver for best performance and enjoyment.  Without a computerized damper setup, the driver is not turning the knobs on the shocks while driving right?  There is no less reliance on driving technique, is there?

I hate suspensions that insulate the driver from important feedback, but otherwise I don't see a problem...
