Whoopsy:The DRS zone between turn 4 and turn 5, I am not sure it will do anything 🤔
Both straights on Portimao ends with a downhill heavy braking zone, turn 5 is a especially tight almost 180.
More like a test for who is brave enough to brake late enough.
Or inexperienced enough to make a mistake there.

I agree. It seems very short to take any advantage from it.
If you watch 2020 LH qualifying lap, main straight DRS zone takes about 8 seconds and at over 300Km/h.
The new DRS zone is about 4 seconds and at much lower speeds. DRS will have less effect and is half the distance.

The only real benefit I can see with the DRS zone between 4 and 5 is that someone wasn't quite getting the job done at the end of turn 1, and run side by side or close enough through 2-3-4 and can blast past after 4 with help of DRS.
We saw a few instances last year there was some side by side racing through 2-3-4. If someone is brave enough to stay outside on 1-2-3, turn 4 he will be on the inside. turn 2 is pretty much flat so outside is easy.

Alex Wurz made good comments how superior the car is under DRS compared to the RB - they gain massively against the same open DRS in the RB. Obviously a superior set up. I would say one sees how good MV was after the restart - he just has the slower car......simple. It will be rather booring again.....

MV is making many mistakes, in each race so far and they were very costy!
He lost pole & fastest lap in Portimao, he made a mistake prior beeing overtaken by Lewis as he was already +/- 1s ahead of him but suddently Lewis could overtake him (and not only because of DRS).
His setup was more downforce oriented and therefore he lost speed on the main straight.
Lewis made one mistake and got lucky in Imola after the red flag and he made one small mistake in Portimao prior to the rolling restart which gave Max the chance to overtake him.
Merc was superior under DRS because they made their setup in that way knowing especially that Lewis is the grand master of tyre management

Fun car the Maxda Miata (called the MX-5 in Australia)
Have one my the most memorable drives ever in a MX-5 in mid 1997 on the road from Cairns to Kuranda..
Hopefully one day when we can travel again I will tick off the Furka Pass from the bucket list!
The Kuranda Range road is an informally named section of the Kennedy Highway in Queensland, Australia. The road traverses the Macalister Range near Cairns (16°50′18″S 145°40′21″E). The 11.5 kilometres (7.1 mi) section of road connects Smithfield, a suburb of Cairns in the Cairns Region with Kuranda, a town in the Shire of Mareeba on the Atherton Tableland, at an altitude of about 360 metres (1,180 ft). Traffic is primarily limited to one lane each way, with overtaking lanes at various points. The Kuranda Skyrail cableway crosses the road twice. Henry Ross Lookout is located near the road's highest point, at an altitude of 430 metres (1,410 ft), and is named after the foreman in charge of building the road to cross the range in 1939.[1]

Great analysis of the difference driving style between Lewis and Max.
They can get around the same ultimate lap times but get there in different ways. In the overall picture the Lewis way is better as he preserves the tires more. I suspect with time and experience Max will change the way he drives to how Lewis drives. Perhaps even during this season as Max is young and is a quick learner. Max is almost there as a complete driver.
