I've seen it in person on Saturday. It looks marvelous. You can't find a bad angle. Photos don't do it justice. It's got perfect proportions.
This car is going to be a winner and Lotus has a bright future ahead.
I wouldn't know what engine to pick tough. (4 cyl AMG with paddles or old V6 but with manual tranny)

I agre on the design. Lotus have absolutely nailed that and given the car a junior super car look at a price point to take on the Cayman. It is exactly the type of car enthusiasts have long demanded on various forums so it will be interesting now to see if they put their money where their mouth is. On the basis of the number of orders taken thus far and the ensuing long waiting list it would appear they have.
I've gone for the V6 with the manual box for fun driving. The i4 AMG engine won't be available until the end of the year as they are concentrating on building the V6 First Edition models at the start. I'm sure the AMG engine with the DCT will be great but as this is a last hurrah for the ICE before Lotus switch over to all electric it seemed more fitting for a fun, occasional use car to go for the manual option.
The feedback from a group of four deposit holders that Lotus recently invited to the factory so they could see how the preparations for the start of production of this critical new model are going was very encouraging and they say the efforts Lotus are going to to get the quality right up there from the start are impressive. It does look like this could be the start of a bright new future for Lotus which is great to see.
The new configrator is great for anyone who wants to try it. They've included a video function which shows your chosen spec driving along a road in California.

That’s great to hear. Lotus, like Lancia or Alfa, are among those manufacturers that I would really love to see do well. The automotive landscape would be so much more boring without them. Awesome Iain, you must be very excited!

Finally....some real life photo's of a car in the Dark Verdant green that I've ordered. Production has been delayed by a month due to type approval testing. There are also issues with parts supplies from China as a result of further lock downs there so there may be more delays ahead.

12 hour Bathurst ran yesterday - AMG Mercedes 1,2 and 3.
Usually held every February but delayed a few months as Australian borders were reopening.
So am back with the Lotus crowd for another track day tomorrow. Tonight we had our pre-event dinner and a local launch of the Emira. It will be doing laps for motoring journos tomorrow. A few pics attached.
The car is Daytona blue or close to it. The yellow lights gave it an odd green hue.

It doesn't when you see the car in person. It's very apparent that the design is to optimise the aero on the car and it flows well in person. A completely flat bonnet/hood would have made the styling look more generic/older. The car in this photo I took in November last year is in the same colour combination as the one in DJM48's post above but the perspective plus the people in and around the car give a better impression of it's stance and size.
