    Re: Lamborghini Huracan and variants

It remains a very beautiful car, especially in its most simplistic form.

    Re: Lamborghini Huracan and variants

I must have near enough Harry's ideal spec with standard passive suspension, standard steering and steel brakes. I would normally have had my car out on the same roads he does his reviews on but due to the varying degrees of restrictions in place since I collected my car I haven't had a chance to do so as yet.

    Re: Lamborghini Huracan and variants

According to Harry this version of the Huracan is the more enjoyable car overall compared to the F8 AND at a saving of £100.000 !

A great choice of a supersportscar.

These RWD Huracans (Evo and STO) really appeal to me.

What is the latest thinking on what the Huracan’s replacement will be?  Still NA V10 supplemented by electric power?  Or will they transition to the V8 in the Urus?

V8 Biturbo as far as I heard but not the Urus engine. I heard a rumor that the next engine will be used for Porsche as well, so I guess they develop it together.

The Evo RWD is indeed a very nice car but the RWD setup doesn't make it faster or much lighter and the AWD car is more powerful and easier to drive fast. To each his own I guess but on public roads, the RWD may not be the fun many think. Smiley

I don't tend to drive too fast on public roads here, but the RWD model looks fun to me.  Fun for lower speed driving in the mountains (with good weather) and at the track.  And importantly, there is a big price savings...

Driving pleasure isn't always about outright speed is it, especially not on the public road? For a fun car I much rather enjoy a car's balance at 'sane' speeds, whiçh the Evo RWD would serve op more easily I assume. Amazing saving as well on the AWD version. Smiley

Since you learned to appreciate AWD in your new E63 S, try a Huracan Evo RWD in comparison to the AWD version. You may be surprised. Smiley

Right!  I have only once ordered a car and waited for it.  It must be amazing to wake up and realize the white ghost is in the garage awaiting your command.  Life is good for you!  Enjoy and be safe.

    Re: Lamborghini Huracan and variants

Rumors about the future of the Huracan:

    1. Current car will be probably produced until 2025 (MY?).

    2. No hybrid for the Huracan.

    3. No particulate filter for the Huracan.

    4. Car in current state has been certified in the US and the EU.

    5. Most cars go to US and China due to increased EU "punishment payments", EU dealers seem to get less cars.

    6. Next generation Huracan could be fully electric, no hybrid. angry

On the upside that still leaves 3 (4?) years to get a new, beautifully designed, non hybrid, non opf, NA V10. If anyone ever wanted to spec a keeper from scratch, now's the time.

That’s the only upside and one wonders about fueling difficulties within a decade.

I'm by no means an expert, but given how extensive the fossil fuel network is at present, I'd assume finding gas won't be a problem. Cost on the other hand should become an issue. My (purely speculative) logic makes me think that gas prices should drop as EV becomes more prominent, but will eventually skyrocket as it becomes a niche product. Makes you wonder what would be the investment path that starts today and puts you right on the winning position in two decades. Best time to plant a tree being 20 years ago and all that

Despite the wishes of our collective ruling class elite, liquid fuels offer significant tangible benefits include energy density when compared with battery based EVs.  Porsche, and potentially Formula One, are on the correct strategy of pursuing a synthetic liquid fuels for transportation.  If done properly, this will extend the life of current petro and diesel powered vehicles for decades while still providing a reduction in carbon emission profiles.

Fossil fuels will be around for a very very long time. Not certain if they will be more or less expensive but in my most humble opinion the synthetic fuels Porsche are working on are only going to be suited for a tiny fraction of very expensive sports cars.

    Re: Lamborghini Huracan and variants

I was reading something about fuels a little while back.  It mentioned that the popularity of petrol-driven passenger cars was good for other petroleum products as the refining process produces a set of products.

i.e. if we assume there will continue to be demand for things like diesel for trucks and farm vehicles, low grade fuel for ships, avgas for aeroplanes, etc, then automotive-grade petroleum would continue to be produced as a part of this process.

Will see if I can dig out the article.

let's not forget about the oil producing countries that have little else in terms of economic balance.

gas prices might be very different from what they are today.

Depends how much this synthetic fuel costs... Smiley
