Audi has taken a similar approach, albeit with a separate electric compressor, for over half-a-decade, starting with the SQ7 TDI. My S6 has an electric compressor too. It definitely reduces turbo lag. https://youtu.be/sHZjo0e5aGg

We can lower the engine size of a V8 and couple it to hybrid system.
Changing a V8 to V6 hybrid is already less exciting. V8 being slower...ok but V6 is not V8.
Then we talk about V8 AMGs and downsize them to 4 cylinder + hybrid? Wow, that’s a serious bet I wouldn’t dare to take.

Agreed. I drove a 4-cyl yesterday, a very powerful one, incl. a mild hybrid. Fun to drive (throttle response, etc.), amazing interior and quality and there is even some sporty sound inside but outside, with the windows open? Nothing. Zilch. So sad. This is the future but I do not want to be part of it. I'd rather get an EV then, no sound as well but superior performance and gadgetry. 
Your Ferrari is a keeper, never forget this.

Yes this - at some point it is like keeping a little pony in the trunk of your car because you miss the horse smell. Makes no sense to have worst of both worlds, might as well go EV.

Agree, the ultimate ICE engine. Now just need an ultimate flat-six and an ultimate Carrera GT next to it and I keep live in peace.

AP911:Frank you had the ultimate flat six especially with the Dundon headers..... unless you go restomod route, I doubt you'll find a more engaging drive... That's the dream along with the 812
true, let's say the ultimate GT3 then, which would have to be a 997 shape to me.
