Good eyes - I missed that.  Probably they didn't have the correct size (must be wide) in centerlock yet.

    Re: 992 GT3

One question regarding winter tires for those using the GT3 (Touring?) in winter as well .... buy a second set of rims is 10k EUR or even more ....  changing the tires from summer to winter on one set of rims could damage the tires .... or is the wire wear so high that you need new tires on each summer and each winter anyway?

.... how do you manage the winter tire question on a GT3? .... and please no comments on the reasonableness to drive a GT3 during winter ... winter here in south of Germany is mostly mild ;-)

    Re: 992 GT3

You do not need to buy a new set of tyres because you have put them on and taken them off.

EG, take the winters off, store them, then put them back on the following winter.

I run Cup 2 summers throughout the year.

If not tracked I would use the Michelin Pilot Sport  4S  all year long.

It is better suited then a cup to drive on public roads as no need to be warm . Better when rain. Good enough in winter when no snow. And way enough grip in summer for driving on speed limited roads.

In Switzerland also, winter tires are not mandatory. Only if there is snow.

    Re: 992 GT3

Problem with the MPS 4S tire is the sizing vs the cup 2.

They are just skinnier so if we want same width as cup 2s we have to go with a bigger size which means sidewall is bigger.

Cup 2s are fine here year round,  and I got used to the road noise.

    Re: 992 GT3

Yeah, the size of the rear N-rated Cup2 and Race Maxx is a strange size (getting another 305/30/20 rear tire although marked the same size will not fit properly on the 12" rear wheels).  The OEM 305mm tire is built like a 325mm wide tire, but with 305/30 sidewall size - they do this to make the OEM Michelin and Dunlop tires exclusive for the GT3.  Winter tires require their own (narrower) wheel to work perfectly as intended, afaik.

Correct and a narrower tire is preferred for wet and snowy driving.

It may be approved for "some" Porsche model, but you need to confirm it works with large GT3 12" wheel, not just 11" wheel from Carrera...

It's possible there is a 4S tire for GT3 now, but there was not last time I looked...

I am on a GT3 RS Facebook group where lots of owners use the 4S on their cars, specially in the US. So if there is a 4S that fits the RS I would be surprised there would be none for the GT3

I've seen plenty of people post photos of their GT3/RS using tires that are clearly over-stretched to fit the rims (for which the tires are clearly not wide enough).  I'm not saying Michelin don't build a tire that is suitable, but I'm not convinced just because some people in the US are doing it...

Personally I would go with a bigger size if I ever decide getting the 4s, even the sidewall is a bit bigger.

You have to be careful with that too - you don't want the overall diameter to change (affects gearing and some of the electronic systems then).

The factory setup for the RS for winter tires (I know 4S are not winter tires) is to use the 20" GT3 wheels with special tire sizes (larger diameter than GT3 tires to keep diameters the same as OEM RS tires).

The factory winter wheel setup for the GT3 is to use 20" 991 Turbo centerlock wheels (11.5" rears).
