    New 2005 Mercedes ML - nice looking?

    Just saw this picture of the new Mercedes ML coming 2005.
    I like the design much more than on the Cayenne, what do you think guys ?

    I like it however the lights are somewhat square as opposed to MB round lights
    But again this is probably a CG picture.

    Ron, this picture is pretty much the final thing, even if it might be CG. I like it, really. If AMG adds the right engine to it (a V8 5.5 with almost 500 HP would be nice), I might go for it. There is still a rumor however that Mercedes doesn't want to match the Cayenne Turbo's excessive power but to lower weight and offer the same performance with around 400 HP. I'm pretty curious to see what will happen. BTW: a bi-turbo charged Diesel engine is planned for the new ML too, around 350 HP are in the word.

    Yes, nice looking I guess. Kind of zoomy, wedge inspired lines. Not as instantly attractive as some of the other, more recent MB efforts (some of their new stuff ... wow!).

    Part of this is they don't know what to do with this product segment. And no one else does either. This is in that SUV/crossover/high-performance/kindalikeasportscar segment that is still evolving and has no destinct personality at present.

    Other SUV's don't have this problem. Jeep and Hummer know where the're going and what they should look like (and they both produce an honest product). Suburbans and Explorers understand their role and look the part.

    The new sporty SUV's are not yet well defined and, for me, it is still a little hard to judge. And, maybe a little hard for the manufacturers to come out and make a bold styling statement. So maybe this looks OK. Hard to tell.

    Hi...
    I never liked mercedes's actually
    But this one doesn't look that bad.....but I hope they'll put some other rims on it then.
    I still think the Cayenne looks better. (gemballa is working on the cayenne)

    not quite as big a change as I was expecting. will be interesting to see the specs. I have a 99 and think it is great.

    NO! There was a CG pic of the current ML with twi round lights a few yrs back that I quite liked, but this looks disjointed. The dealers in the UK are rapidely going down-hill too - they seem more interested in selling fleets of C class that dealing with someone who is just buying one car. MB seems to be turning into a Ford for snobs, interior qaulity dire on recent vehicles cf mercs of old.

    How about the Cayenne Turbo throttle/shifting hesitation? Very dynamic for a Porsche. Our ML55 has a much better (more dynamic ) throttle/shifting response. I like the new ML and if Porsche doesn't fix the throttle hesitation , my next family car will be a Mercedes again.
