The most enjoyable and rewarding M car to drive for quite some time. Potentially, a future classic.
Price and rivalsThe obvious rival at this price point is Porsche’s Cayman GT4. The Porsche is a better driver’s car in the sense of the purity of its major controls, and also has that wonderful naturally aspirated 4-litre engine, but there’s no denying the desirability of the M2 CS, or the sheer entertainment factor from its expressive throttle-dominated dynamics.
Hopefully they will start to make M4 CSL and M2 CSL in the next generations of each (rumored to be case that they make 4 versions of each, M2, M2 Comp, M2 CS, M2CSL, and same for M4)...
Hopefully, they will make the price jumps more modest next time or the M2CSL will cost more than double M2...

That sounds nuts.I already have difficulties to understand the differences between these variants, apart from the engine type and output. Looks to me as if they did not want to make the price difference between M2 and M4 too obvious, as the CS already has the same performance numbers.
The BMW M models, with very few exceptions, are cars, which (in Germany), you only have to wait 6-12 months and you get them for basically half the price or at very high discounts. In the past, my BMW dealer called me almost once a month to offer me a M model at a special price. Last time I met him, I asked why he hasn't called anymore and he told me that he gave up calling people because most people aren't interested, even at these low prices. He told me that he called me 9x in 2019, I didn't even realize that, so I can understand his frustration.
Nowadays, I do not want to sell cars, must be a very tough job to do. On the other hand, my Mercedes and Porsche guys never call to offer special deals, I always have to call and ask. Not a very clever strategy in my opinion because sometimes, I know "someone" who needs a car and I could pass on the offers.

These results are a bit disappointing. In the past, M cars offered more performance than Porsche for the money. In this case, it seems more expensive and slower than GT4.

Very disappointing numbers for such a powerful and purposeful car. Even slower than the original manly GT4
